Recently, theEducation Department of Heilongjiang Province issued the“Notice on Carrying Out the Construction of Heilongjiang Province’s Collaborative Graduate Education Base for Industry-Education Integration (Pilot)”(HeilongjiangTeaching and Research Letter [2023] No. 126). Our university’s reform efforts in graduate education models have made significant strides, resulting in the approval as a provincial-level pilot university for the construction of collaborative graduate education bases for industry-education integration.

In April, theEducation Department of Heilongjiang Provincereleased a notice regarding the implementation of the pilot construction project for the collaborative graduate education bases for industry-education integration in Heilongjiang Province. The Graduate School of our university organized six colleges, including the Colleges of Material Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Measurement–Control Technology and Communications Engineering, Computer Science, and Automation, to conduct thereviewwork for the construction of provincial-level collaborative graduate education bases for industry-education integration. In May, a preliminary construction plan was formulated and submitted to theEducation Department of Heilongjiang Province.

The education base is oriented towards serving societal needs and aims to enhance the practical abilities of graduate students. It establishes an operational framework of“Center + Colleges + Workstations.”Initially, twelve units including Harbin Electric Corporation, State Grid Heilongjiang Electric Power Research Institute, QiqiharHeavy CNC Equipment CO., LTD, and Northeast Light Alloy Co., Ltd. were selected to establish the first batch of graduate student collaborative education workstations. These workstations are established based on our university’s pilot construction of provincial-level collaborative graduate education bases for industry-education integration, leveraging the Energy and Power, Mechanical, Electronic Information, Materials, and Chemical Engineering disciplines.

The university will capitalize on the construction of collaborative education bases, focusing on fields such as equipment manufacturing and energy security in our province. It aims to establish and improve mechanisms for collaboration with partner institutions throughout the entire process, including enrollment, curriculum development, course design, teaching methodologies, professional internships, practical projects, thesis development, and other aspects. The objective is to develop a series of high-quality teaching cases and collaborative courses with enterprises, producing top-tier scientific innovations and practical applications. It will form a team of highly qualified mentors, guiding graduate students to engage in scientific research, practical skill training within enterprises, undertake research projects, and complete their theses. The continuous enhancement of industry participation in graduate education will be emphasized. The goal is to collaboratively build exemplary collaborative graduate education bases with leading enterprises in the province and beyond, functioning as a platform for innovative graduate education. This platform will integrate diverse aspects such as talent cultivation, scientific research, and deployment of research outcomes. The ultimate aim is to provide robust support for all-round and across-the-board revitalization of Heilongjiang by fostering high-level specialized talents.
