At the ceremony, LiuXia, President of HUST,deliversa speech on the theme of "Striving for national rejuvenation through cultivating patriotism and sharpening skills”, andgivesthe new students a wonderful "first lesson of this term". Liu pointsout that HUST was born at the same time as the old industrial base of the Republic of China, and developed simultaneously with the new Chinese electromechanical and equipment manufacturing industry, enjoying the reputation of "cradle of modern engineers" in wire and cable industry. HUST has now developed into one of the largest and strongest provincial universities of science and technology in Heilongjiang Province.
