School of Foreign Languages Became the Council Membershipof CCRAA

The Chinese Corpus Research and Application Alliance(CCRAA)was announced to be founded in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian Province,onthe evening of April 12.Professor Hu Kaibao, Ph.D.Tutor and Dean of Foreign Languages College of Shanghai Jiaotong University, was officially appointed Director of CCRAA. More than 200 representatives from universities, colleges and companies all over the country witnessed its foundation.

Mr. Lin Shisong, Secretary-General of CCRAA and Chairman of the Translator Translation Service Company, saidin the work report that altogether48 units had joined the first batch of the Alliance including two universities from Northeast China, of which HUSTis the only representative unit from Heilongjiang Province. Dr. Yang Ye,Master Advisor of MTI,Deputy Director of the Foreign Language and Literature Research Center of School of Foreign Languages, attended the meeting.

It is believed that the establishment of CCRAA will surely starta new chapter in the research and application of the Chinese Corpus,which provides a high-level platform for communication and cooperation, teacher training and teaching practice.Its membershipis always said to helpto promote the research and application of corpus in our university.

Jointly sponsored by universities, research institutes and well-known enterprises in Chinasuch as Macao University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Dalian University of Science and Technology, Huawei Technology Co., Ltd., Qufu Normal University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Sichuan Foreign Studies University, Shanghai Translator Translation Service Co., Ltd., Linguistic Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of the Chinese Translation Association and the National Academy of Higher Learning which are totally voluntary organizations,CCRAA aims at promoting the application of corpus,the corpusresearch and the cooperation between universities and enterpriseson the basis of its principle:"equality and mutual benefit, resource sharing, win-win cooperation and common development".
