Ultraviolet LED Irradiation Crosslinking System Project Led by Professor Zhao Hong Contracted and Settled in Nangang Hi-tech Industrial Park

Nangang District Government held the centralized signing ceremony of Industrial Investment Project in Spring 2017 in Wanda Realm Hotel Harbin in May 9. At the ceremony, the ultraviolet LED irradiation crosslinking system project led by Professor Zhao Hong of HUST with Harbin Harpo Electric Technology Co., Ltd. was contracted and settled in Nangang Hi-tech Industrial Park. This is an important breakthrough made by teacher of HUST in brave undertaking and serving local economy in the implementation of the “innovation driven development strategy” proposed by the 18th CPC National Congress and the three year plan of action for thousands of scientific and technological enterprises in our province. At the same time, it is the first time to settle in Nangang Hi-tech Industrial Park with project led by teacher in HUST, which shows the support and influence of the scientific and technological power of our university on the local economy.

Harbin Harpo Electric Technology Co., Ltd. was built in the Science and Technology Park in our university in 2005. The settled project of ultraviolet LED irradiation crosslinking system is the result of eight-year persistent effort made by Harpo electrical R&D team. UV irradiated polyethylene technology was invented by Europeans in 1956. In 1980s, the research of Ranby, a Swedish professor, greatly promoted the practical process. In 1990s, Qu Baojun, a professor at the University of Science and Technology of China devoted to the application of technology in cable manufacturing. But restricted by the limited efficiency of irradiation system, industrialization process was slow. Harpo started development and manufacturing of interventional irradiation system in 2009, which greatly improved the production efficiency and promoted the application of technology. Then, with unremitting efforts of its R&D team, Harpo launched its exclusive products in turn, such as second generation of electronic-powered mercury lamp UV irradiation system, the third generation of microwave electrodeless lamp ultraviolet irradiation system and the LED ultraviolet irradiation system at present. Under the same production capacity, the energy efficiency of the LED ultraviolet irradiation system acts as four times than the system of the first generation, three times than that of the second and the third one. Besides, its comprehensive technical performance has remarkable advance. All these have greatly improved its technical competitiveness and created a promising market prospect for the development of UV crosslinked polyethylene cable manufacturing technology with China’s own independent intellectual property rights. The event of Xi’an Metro Aokai inferior cable in March this year advances the standard production and technical upgrade in wire and cable industry and can also play a role in promoting the application of this new technology. At the same time, the UV LED irradiation system will also be applied to polymer surface curing, such as furniture, electrical appliances and large equipment.

At the industrial investment projects signing ceremony, 25 projects were in centralized signing, which indicated a total of 76 projects worth 31.57 billion Yuan would settle in Nangang District in Spring 2017. Liang Ye, the party secretary of Nangang district committee of CPC, said in the speech that for the implementation of the twelfth provincial Party Congress spirit, the district will be vigorous in introducing high-tech enterprises, strengthening second industries to boost the rapid development Nangang economic zone.
