The 6thNational English Interpreting Competition in Heilongjiang Province was held in HUST on April 15. Sponsored by China Translation Association, hosted by Heilongjiang Translation Association and Foreign Languages School of Harbin University of Science and Technology, the opening ceremony was held in multifunctional hall, Building No.1, western campus. The leaders presented in the competition are Liu Shenghui, HUST vice president, Cao Ru, deputy director of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Harbin People’s Government, Huang Suying, director of Heilongjiang Provincial Translation Association, Zhu Xing,secretary-generalof Heilongjiang Provincial Translation Association, Gao Xiujiang,secretary of the party committeeof our Foreign Languages School. There were 92 contestants attending the competition. Ten interpreting experts from our province are invited to be the judges.
Our vice president Liu Shenghui and director Huang Suying addressed in the opening ceremony. Six contestants representing our university attended the competition supervised by Pang Baokun and Li Zhi. Four of them entered the northeast regional competition. Bao Tiancheng from our MTI got the sliver medal, and the other three contestants from our university, Xu Qi, Li Haiyang and Sun Xiao got the second and third prizes. In the end, our university is conferred the “Outstanding Organization Award”.
