“The Third Heilongjiang Province College Students Computer Application Contest”, jointly organized by ACM/ICPC China, Northeast Collegiate Programming Contest Organizing Committee and the Heilongjiang Computer Society, was hosted by Harbin Engineering University.The competition was divided into the multimedia group, Web group and desktop applications 3. About 148 teams in our province got involved in the fierce competition, which came to a successful ending on 28^th, October. There were a total of 23 teams in our university taking part in the competition, 7 of them won the first prize, 7 won the second prize, 6 won the third prize and 3 won outstanding achievement award.

The Computing Center was in charge of the organization of the competition and the guidance of the students, who came from 21 different departments. After careful preparation for nearly one month, under the guidance of teachers including Xin Shiguang, Mei Xian, Zhu Xiaofei, Jiang Shaoyu, Li Daye from the Computing Center, with the joint efforts of all students, a full preparation was made from the subject establishment, creative design and technical realization. Deputy Director Song Qingkun from Teacher Affairs’ Office and Director, Zhang Dianlong from Computing Center solved many practical difficulties for teachers and students.

“The Fourth Heilongjiang Province College students’ Computer Application Contest” is scheduled to be held in May next year. The students interested in it can prepare in advance with better works to keep our university superior in this field.
