In order to further implement the important statements by General Secretary Xi Jinping on education and the strategic plan of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on education,andunder the guidance of the Department of Teacher Education and the Department of Moral Education, the annual summary and mobilization meeting of the 2023“Gratefulto Teachers－You and I Hand-in-Hand”large-scale public service activities was held in the fifth floor lecture hall of the main building. The activity was hosted by China Teacher Development Foundation and China Education Development Foundation, and organized byJournal of Teachingand and Harbin University of Science and Technology.
Present at the meeting were Weng Bo, deputy director of the Department of Teacher Education of the Ministry of Education, Wang Fazhou, deputy director of the Department of Moral Education of the Ministry of Education, Song Jiale, the secretary-general of the China Teacher Development Foundation, Wang Zhen, the deputy secretary of the Education Work Committee of the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee, Xu Shunkang, the vice president of New Oriental Education and Technology Group and the general manager of New Oriental College Student Learning and Development Center, Wu Xiaoning, the editor-in-chief ofJournal of Teaching,and leaders ofouruniversity, including Zhao Lin, Zhao Shuishan, and Yang Zhongxue.
Zhao Lin,Party Secretary of the university, delivered a welcome speech. He pointed out that the success of the activity will further deepen the sense of mission and responsibility of teachers, provide further education and guidance for students tobe grateful toteachers, and encourage respect for teachers and support for education. Under the guidance of Ministry of Education, and with the support of the China Teacher Development Foundationandthe China Education Development Foundation, Harbin University of Science and Technology will take this activity as an opportunity to participate in the activities with other brother universities, making new and greater contributions to building a high-quality, professional, and innovative teaching team, and making the practice of respecting teachers and supporting education prevail in the whole society.
Wang Zhen, deputy secretary of the Education Work Committee of the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee, pointed out in his speech that he hoped the colleges and universitiesin the provincewould take the opportunity to thoroughly implement the Ministry of Education's work deployment, learn from advanced experience, and make good use of this activities to continuously strengthen the political and ideological guidance and moral education for college students. It is hoped that the students will cultivate themselves, study hard, and express their gratitude to teachers in practical actions. It is hoped that teachers will continue to carry forward the spirit of educators in the new journey, educate and guide students to be self-confident and self-improving, and make new and greater contributions to the construction of a powerful country.
Weng Bo, deputy director of the Department of Teacher Education of the Ministry of Education, delivered a speech at the event, stressing that the activity has exerted wide influence since it was first held in 2016, creating a strong atmosphere of respecting teachers and valuing education. We should take this activity as an opportunity, and hope that students will always be grateful and put respect for teachers into practical action, so that the fine tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education will be passed on and carried forward.He expressedhishope that teachersbear in mindthe General Secretary Xi Jinping’s statements, shoulder the mission given to them in the new era, strive to cultivate students into socialist builders and successors of all-around development of moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labour education.
Wang Fazhou, deputy director of the Department of Moral Education of the Ministry of Education, delivered a speech emphasizing that this large public activity is not only an important carrier to carry forward the fine tradition of respecting teachers and valuing education, but also an important platform for strengthening ideological and political education for college teachers and students. The Department of Moral Education will continue to work together with the Department of Teacher Education to guide and support the China Teacher Development Foundation and the China Education Development Foundation to make this large public activity distinctive,upgraded, and established as a brand. We will strive to build a good teacher-student relationship with mutual respect and love, and to cultivate a new generation of talents who are capable of undertaking the great mission of national rejuvenation. We will make new contributions and write a new chapter for the construction of a powerful country and national rejuvenation.
Song Jiale, Secretary-General of the China Teacher Development Foundation, delivered a speech pointing out that this large public activity aims to promote the culture of gratitude, educate and guide students to thank their teachers, their alma mater, and society. The successof the activity is inseparable from the care and guidance of the Department of Teacher Education and the Department of Moral Education of the Ministry of Education, as well as the enthusiastic participation of teachers and students from all kinds of schools across the country. It is also inseparable from the generous donations of caring companies like New Oriental and the strong support of theJournal of Teaching. It is hoped that this event will be a complete success.
At the meeting, Yu Minhong, Chairman of New Oriental Education and Technology Group, sent his congratulations to the successful holding of this event through a video. Xu Shunkang, Vice President of New Oriental Education and Technology Group and General Manager of the New Oriental College Learning and Development Center, delivered a speech. Wu Xiaoning, the Editor-in-Chief of theJournal of Teaching, announced the implementation plan of the event.
During the event, Weng Bo, the deputy director of the Department of Teacher Education of the Ministry of Education, Wang Fazhou, the deputy director of the Department of Moral Education of the Ministry of Education, and Song Jiale, the Secretary-General of the China Teacher Development Foundation, jointly presented activity certificates to outstanding university representatives and conferred flags to student representatives from various universities. The China Teacher Development Foundation, in conjunction with the New Oriental College Learning and Development Center, donated learning packages worth 19.2 million yuan to the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province.

At the same time, the school invited Dong Zhongli, a senior lecturer of New Oriental Student Learning and Development Centre forGraduateEntrance Examination, to share his learning experience and suggestions for employment,examination and research with the students on the topic of“University Career Planning”, which was warmly received at the lecture site.
