From November 10th to 12th, the“2023 On-Site Exchange Activity ofExcellent Teaching Cases in Ideological and Political Education in Foreign Language Courses”was successfully held in Changsha. The event was under the guidance ofNational Foreign Languages Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education,jointly organized by the Higher Education Institutions Teacher Online Training Center.Our university achieved notable recognition in this event. We were awarded one second prize at the national finals, one first prize and three second prizes at the provincial level. Additionally, we were honored with an award for outstanding organization.

The eventinitiatedin 2020 and has been held for four years. Throughout this period, a total of 4,483 works have been received, involving participation from 3000 different institutions. Starting from 2021, it has been included in the“National Teaching Development Index for College Teachers”by the China Association of Higher Education for two consecutive years.This year, 2,198 teachers from 458 institutions across 29 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) participated in the event, submitting a total of 890 works.After being recommended bythe school,reviewed bythe event committee, and evaluatedby the expert committee, 576 works were selected as outstanding provincial-level teaching cases. Among these, 117 works were awarded the provincial-level top prize and entered the national exchange event.

The team consisting of Li Zongyang, Fu Si, Song Meijun, Li Yan, and Zhang Xuan from the Department of Foreign Language Teaching at the School of Foreign Languages received the provincial-level top prize and advanced to the national finals. During the two-day competition, participants spontaneously drew materials, designed ideological and political teaching courses, created presentation slides, and conducted English lectures within an hour and a half. They were evaluated by judges on-site and achieved the second prize at the national finals.

Our university has consistently emphasized the development of the teaching staff and implemented the concept of promoting education through competitions. Participating teachers have engaged in multiple collective discussions, collaborated closely, and refined their teaching design plans. At the provincial level, all five participating teams received awards. The team led by Li Zongyang achieved the provincial-level top prize. The team led by Cao Fei received the provincial-level first prize. Additionally, the teams led by Zhao Yuxin, Li Changyi, and Yang Xin secured provincial-level second prizes.

Our university has always placed significant emphasis on the brand development of“Party Building + Ideological and Political Education in the Curriculum.”We prioritize team building, advocate group collaboration, and uphold ideological and political education. We firmly believe in engaging all members, practicing ideological and political education, and fostering ideological education through participating in competitions.In this outstanding case collection activity, the School of Foreign Languages proposed a comprehensive curriculum plan for ideological and political education that focused on teaching objectives, content, strategies and methods, teaching organization and design, and evaluation of teaching effectiveness. This approach received unanimous recognition from the national expert reviewers. This award marks yet another achievement in our university's curriculum ideological and political education development efforts.
