On Oct.16, just a day before the fourth National Poverty Alleviation Day, 5 reporters from CETV (China Education Television) or “Newsnight” program of HLJTV, arrived Xili Village, Bayan County, to report the outstanding story of HUST poverty alleviation team working there.

By paying visits to the residence of HUST poverty alleviation team and three households once suffered extreme poverty, as well as interviewing some local cadres, villagers, three team members and especially Dong Shaowei, the team leader and first Party secretary staying at Xinli Village,the reporters grasped the first-hand materials of the heart-warming achievements by HUST poverty alleviation team, and will soon broadcast it in corresponding programs.

Except Dong, the original vice director of HUST’s PE Department, the other two team members are Jin Yi and Zhang Xichao, counselors from HUST’s School of Material Science & Engineering and School of Chemistry individually. It was on June 1st that they deployed Xinli Village to take over Chen Feng, the HUST cadre working there before that time, to continue the target poverty alleviation work. During the past several months, they implemented a series of down-to-earth work and successfully helped some poverty-stricken villagers get rid of poverty, as well as made excellent achievements in changing the outlooks of the whole village, which was highly praised by local mass and leaders at different levels.
