The 10thinternational Forum on Strategic Technology (IFOST) was held inGadjah Mada University,Indonesiafrom June 3 to June 5. HUST delegation attended the conference and gave speeches and lectures on the conference.
Started in 2006, IFOST is a further expansion and development of a Korean-Russian seminar in 1997. As an international conference, the seminar is not only a link to academic field but also a platform for communication and cooperation in strategies and technology related to academics, industry, policy-making and so on. IFOST is co-hosted by some universities of science and technology like South Korean Ulsan University,RussianTuomusikeIndustrialUniversity, Novosibirsk State University of Technology, Harbin University of Science and Technology (HUST),Mongolia University of Science and Technology, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology,GadjahMadaUniversityand so on. IFOST was ever held inVietnam,RepublicofKorea,China,Russia,MongoliaandBangladeshamong which the 6thIFOST was successfully hosted by HUST.
The theme of the 10thIFOST is “the sustainable development of Engineering and Technology”. Professors and specialists from China, Russia, USA, Republic of Korea, Mongolia, Japan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and India exchanged their latest research findings in the fields like information communication technology, control, instrumentation and robotics, energy engineering technology, fossil energy, renewable energy, civil engineering, urban planning and architecture, climate change adaptation and mitigation of remote sensing measurement, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mining engineering, advanced materials and materials processing, and application engineering.
On behalf of president of HUST, Xi Zhaohui, head of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, delivered a speech on the opening ceremony of the 10thIFOST and initialed the memorandum of cooperation between HUST andGadjahMadaUniversity. Professor Yu Xiaoyang, Professor Chen Yunde, Professor Sun Mingsong and Professor Yang Mingji from HUST gave lectures and exchanged views with other attendees on scientific development, research cooperation, students’ co-cultivation and so on. Xi Zhaohui also had a talk with Professor Panut Mulyono fromGadjahMadaUniversity,ProfessorChi-MoParkfromSouth KoreaUlsanUniversityand Professor Baatar Ochirbat from Mongolia University of Science and Technology. He welcomed students from different countries toChinafor their further study.
This conference works as an impactful means for the professors to broaden their academic horizons, to learn the latest research hotspots and the advanced technology, to help establish further cooperation with other universities and to publicize their own universities.
