Invited by Party Secretary Gao Jun and President Li Dayong, Chung Hua University (CHU for short) Delegation Chairman Huang Hexin, President Sha Yongjie, Division Chief of International Cooperation and Exchange Department Jian Xixin, Head of Information College You Kunming and Head of Technical College Lin Yuli paid an official and friendly visit to HUST in the past few days.

After visiting Rongcheng College of HUST, CHU delegation arrived in Harbin and were greeted by Vice President Meng Dawei at the airport. Party Secretary Gao Jun set an evening banquet to welcome the distinguished guests from Taiwan on behalf of HUST, saying that: “CHU and HUST have been cooperative friends for many years. We are very pleased that you come to our university this time, and we hope that this visit will deepen mutual friendship and strengthen our cooperation.” Party Secretary Gao Jun improvised a poem to show the warm welcome. The poem went as below:

Greeting CHU to visit HUST

Beauty of lilacs, fragrance of orchids,

Pleasure brought by distinguished guests,

Proposing a toast to everlasting friendship;

Glory of straits, sentiment of brotherliness

Contributions made for powerful technical strength,

Fostering elites all over the world.

CHU ChairmanHuangHexin invited Party Secretary Gao Jun to write the poem down and then the calligraphy work was given to CHU, which would be mounted and kept in history museum of CHU.

On the morning of the next day, Party Secretary Gao Jun, President Li Dayong, Vice Party Secretary Du Guangchun, Vice President Zhao Hong and Vice President Meng Dawei who visited CHU and were in charge of the foreign affairs met with the delegation.

President Li Dayong reviewed the cooperation history of these two universities firstly, confirming the achievements had been got through cooperation and particularly expressing gratitude for CHU’s attendance in the activities held for the 60^thanniversary of HUST last year. President Li Dayong said: “there is broad cooperation space for fostering students and scientific cooperation between the two universities; therefore I hope we may strengthen the contact and cooperate comprehensively. May the cooperation between us be happy.”

As for the international cooperation and exchange, Vice President Zhao Hong proposed the specific cooperation suggestion: “emphasizing the mutual visits between professors, and strengthening the cooperation in teaching, scientific research and other aspects.”

Chairman Huang Hexin firstly on behalf of CHU expressed gratitude for the high standard reception provided by HUST, saying that “we are so glad to come to HUST. Through over 10 years’ cooperation and many years’ mutual visiting experiences, a deep friendship has been formed. We are looking forward to having more and better opportunities for cooperation and exchange.”

President Sha Yongjie also thanked for the warm reception and expressed appreciation for the students sent to CHU by School of Software of HUST, saying that: “the students sent by your honorable university to ours are all excellent, receiving high praise from our university. We are glad to see that Zhou Liwei of your honorable university got the international confirming certificate in our university. Probably he is the first student of mainland who has got the international confirming certificate in Taiwan.” President Sha Yongjie indicated that more students from other schools of our university were welcome to study in CHU and the best care and concern would be given. What’s more, our professors would also be welcome to study there, conducting scientific cooperation and issuing dissertation together. He hoped that the exchange between the two universities would become a normal and regular issue.

After the meeting, President Li Dayong issued the Guest Professor Certificate to President Sha Yongjie and Professor You Kunming. Then, with Vice President Zhao Hong’s company, the delegation visited Harbin Electric Machinery Company Limited.

Head of School of Mechanical and Power Engineering Shao Junpeng, Head of School of Management Wang Hongqi, Head of School of Economics Xiu Guoyi, Head of School of Measurement-Control Technology and Communications Engineering Yu Xiaoyang, Head of School of Software Liu Shenghui, Division Chief of Department of International Cooperation and Exchange Xi Zhaohui were also in the company.

During the visit, the delegation also held wonderful instruction conferences for the students of School of Mechanical and Power Engineering, School of Management, School of Economics, School of Measurement-Control Technology and Communications Engineering and School of Software, fully introducing the study and living situations of university in Taiwan.
