Actively organized and strongly supported by the Dean’s Office, arranged by the School of Art, the four representative groups in our university entered the final phase in the Eighth National College Students Ice Sculpture Competition. This competition ended in the Zhao Lin Park on December 29th.

The theme of this ice sculpture competition is Hold Up Your Life Tomorrow. There are 31 representative groups from 16 universities, such as the School of Architecture from the Harbin Institute University, the School of Art from Northeast Petroleum University, Guangxi Arts Institute, and Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in Liaoning, etc around the country took part in the competition. After the 2 days’ fierce competition, “Dancing Waves” created by You Pengfei, Zheng Zhitao, Tie Kangkang and Cui Mengyang, ect from Harbin University of Science and Technology won the Silver Award. The other three representative groups from our university won the Excellent Award. Professor Lin Xuewei and Zhang Honglei from Harbin University of Science and Technology won the excellent directing teacher awards in the eighth National College Students Ice Sculpture.

In the cold environment with the low temperature, our students won the favorable comments from the judges and visitors by their special artistic skills. This competition showed the practice teaching of undergraduate course in our university, and at the same time, our teaching staff and students may endeavor further to achieve higher scores.
