In order to fully enhance the integration of campus culture and ideological and political education and to promote the advancement of quality and efficiency in campus cultural construction, the opening ceremony of the 29th “Hengxing” University Cultural, Arts, and Sports Festival, as well as the “Hengtong Cup” Top Ten Singers Competition, was held in the Conference Hall 0220 of the Building 1 in the West Campus at 6 p.m. on May 7th, 2024.
This festival themed “Pooling Youthful Energy to Compose a Glorious Chapter of the Times” focuses on connotative development to establish a student activity platform characterized by the new era, aligning with the developmental traits of new youth, and highlighting the humanistic features of the campus. It fully leverages the unique role of the “Hengxing” Cultural, Arts, and Sports Festival in enhancing the humanistic and artistic qualities of students, and showcases the youthful vitality of HUST’s youth in the new era, embodying their dedication, responsibility, and growth towards becoming accomplished individuals.
The opening ceremony of this festival and “Hengtong Cup” top ten singers competition is hosted by the School Youth League Committee and organized by School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. It unfolds through three chapters: “Praising Youth in Prosperous China,” “Vital Youth Taking Responsibility for Revival,” and “Youthful Students of HUST Making a Difference.” and centered around themes such as celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of New China, supporting Heilongjiang in hosting the Asian Winter Games, and encouraging self-improvement among HUST’s students. It aimed to unite the youth, praising the prosperity of the motherland through songs and expressing youthful responsibility through music, while fully displaying the youthful vitality of our students.
After evaluation by the judging panel and voting by the audience, Cheng Ran from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Yang Fuyun from School of Computer Science and Technology emerged as the winners of the First Prize; Zhao Yue and Wang Xianyang from the School of Economics and Management; Guan Yaxuan from the School of Science, were awarded the Second Prize; Wang Yutong from the School of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, Wang Yuxuan from School of Mechanical and Power Engineering, Zheng Ke from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Wu Yuning from School of Foreign Languages, and Sun Yuting from School of Marxism were granted the Third Prize. And the aforementioned students were honored with the title of “Top Ten Campus Singers.”
Committed to moving forward, youth resounds brightly. The opening ceremony of this Arts and Sports Festival and the “Hengtong Cup” Top Ten Campus Singers Competition adhered to the principle of educating, influencing, and nourishing individuals with beauty, cultivating a vibrant and lively campus ambiance and showcasing the romantic spring of our campus. We, the students in HUST, will continue to be guided by the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, carry forward the spirit of May 4th, demonstrate our youthful vitality and endeavors, and contribute our youthful power. We strive to write a youth chapter marked by stepping up to our responsibilities for China’s modernization and contribute our youthful momentum to promoting the high-quality and connotative development of our university.
