Burning love in the early summer welcomes the event, and the scorching ambition shakes the field. At 8 o’clock on May 24, the 2024 track and field sports meeting of our university was grandly held in the South District Sports Field.

With firm belief and accompanied by passionate music, the athletes were full of spirit, swaggering, shouting sonorous slogans and showing heroic posture, which fully demonstrated the tenacious fighting spirit, indomitable quality and united style of teachers and students of Harbin University of Science and Technology. They received loud applause from directors from the rostrum and other audience. The national flag guards walked at the forefront of the parade with their eyes like torches and neat steps, solemnly escorting the national flag into the procession. After the referees, athletes, and phalanxes of various units entered, the ceremony of raising the national flag, playing the national anthem, firing the salute, raising the school flag, and playing the school song was held.

Vice President Chen Qing’guo delivered an opening speech. On behalf of the university, he expressed warm congratulations on the smooth convening of the sports meeting, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the teachers, students and staff who have worked hard in the preparation process of this sports meeting. He also paid high tribute to the referees, athletes, and volunteers who participated in the Games. He pointed out that physical education is the fundamental task of realizing the cultivation of morality, the basic project to improve the comprehensive quality of students, and an important part of accelerating the modernization of education and building a strong country in education and sports. Our school's physical education work adheres to the student-centered, constantly meets the diversified needs of students for sports, and implements the reform of physical education curriculum around mastering physical health knowledge, strengthening basic sports skills, and improving the level of special sports, and has achieved fruitful results. With the sound of the horn gun, the sports competition began. In the arena, the athletes fought bravely and hard, and the style and level of the game were shown. A total of 1,355 athletes from the university competed in 27 sports and 86 events. After a day and a half of competition, the 2024 track and field games ended successfully at 16 o’clock.

Zhao Shuishan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, delivered a closing speech.
