Upon HUST’s invitation, Academician of German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina Professor Stefano Passerin and his colleagues visited HUST from 3rd to 8th in April. President Liu Xia received Prof. Passerin, accompanied by Prof. Shen Zexiang from School of Electrical and Electric Engineering as well as related directors and teachers from the International Cooperation Division of HUST and School of Electrical and Electric Engineering. Both parties held friendly talks on the prospects of new energy technology, industry-education-research cooperation, talent cultivation and international exchanges and cooperation in a further way.
President Liu Xia welcomed Prof. Passerini and introduced HUST’s progress in talent cultivation, science research, industry- education-research cooperation and advantaged subjects in this year, expressing gratitude to Prof. Passerini’s support to the construction of HUST’s talents and quality development. He hoped HUST and Prof. Passerini would thoroughly cooperate in power battery and energy storage battery, such as research and development of new energy technology, application of technology, high-level science and technology exchanges and international talent cultivation.
Prof. Passerini appreciated HUST’s heartfelt invitation and hospitality, and said that the university impressed him on the construction of talents’ groups and the development of new energy technology, giving his advice on the development model of industry, education and research of energy storage, research platform and the construction of energy storage and engineering. During the talks, both parties discussed actively on the future of energy storage battery, agreeing to further enhance cooperation in basic research, research and development of equipment and application of science and technology.
After that, Prof. Passerini visited the laboratories of HUST and learned HUST’s latest progress and achievements in science and research innovation and the research platform construction.
On the afternoon of 7th April, Prof. Passerini made a fantastic academic lecture with the title of Locally Concentrated Ionic Liquid Electrolytes for High-Energy Batteries which expounded the ionic liquid of high specific energy lithium metal battery’s current development, research progress and accomplishments. He also discussed related issues with other teachers and students.
Prof. Stefano Passerini is an authoritative expert in electrochemistry in the world, Academician of German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, Fellow of the Electrochemical Society, Felllow of International Society of Electrochemistry and Chief Editor of Journal of Power Sources. Having made leading accomplishments in battery and electrochemistry, he is widely considered to be a pioneer in ionic liquid and sodium ion battery. He has published over 1,000 papers and been cited more than 64,000 times, with a Google Scholar H-index133, 11 works and chapters and 31 patents.
