On 19th Jan. 2024, the Industry Information Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China delivered the first batch of pilot units for the construction of the specialized integration innovation center of network, security, industry and education, and HUST was one of the selected pilot units. Through three rounds of reviews, 30 out of the 179 universities became the first batch. HUST paid great attention to the declaration of the specialized integration innovation center of network, security, industry and education which was based on the Information Science and Technology School (Software School, Cyberspace Security School), with Vice President Chen Qingguo directing the process of declaration and defense for many times and the support from the Teaching Affairs Department. On 16th Jan., Vice President Chen Qingguo and Vice Director Shen Tao of the Teaching Affairs Department participated in the online defense of the construction of the innovation center in person, and Dean of the Information Science and Technology School Huang Hai, Vice Dean Zhang Shuli and Leader of Cyberspace Security Tang Guangyi made great efforts to prepare for the declaration and defense.
The specialized integration innovation center of network, security, industry and education aims to promote the integrated innovation of industry and education, form a quality platform for resources and talents of the “new cyberspace security” industry, and find out a new better model for the supply side to abut on the demand side, whose goal was to help universities to get over barriers between disciplines as well as bottlenecks of the supply of talents and the demands of the industry, and thus a duplicable innovation model can take shape and be promoted. The approval of the center will provide a new platform and development space for the construction of the Cyberspace Security School, promote disciplines such as Cyberspace Security and Network Engineering, and facilitate the combination of industry and education and the integrated development of other disciplines of today’s Information Science and Technology School.
