Showing Concern for Overseas HUST Students and Alumni in Disaster-stricken Japan

On March 11, a devastating tsunami triggered by the biggest earthquake on the record of Japan struck along the northeastern coast ofHonshuswept away everything in its path and caused massive casualties and property losses.

Asthe whole world is worrying about and praying for the victims living in the disaster-stricken areas, the safety of 27 HUST overseas students and 3 alumnistudying or working in Japandraws a deep concernof everyone in our university.

With the direction of President Li Dayong and other HUSTleading staff members,as well as the efforts made by the teachers or cadres fromForeign Language School,Office of International Cooperation & Exchange andAlumni Office, etc.greetings and consolations were expressed from HUST toJapanshortly after the disaster had occurred.

Fortunately, all these HUST students and alumni are known sound and safe up to now, and can be got in close touch with through Internet or telephone freely. To the kindness from their ownalma mater, they, as well as their families in China,expressed heart-felt appreciation.
