On Sep. 25th, about 10 of the 51 alumni of the original Harbin Technical School came back to their alma mater to have some activities to celebrate the 60thanniversary of graduation, recalling their unforgettable learning life and experiencing the tremendous development of their old school.
These alumni, graduated for a cycle of sixty years, were enrolled in the original the First Harbin Technical School in 1948, which has become one part of our present university. Their average age is above 80 years. During the difficult period of the initial stage of the Pepole’s Republic of China, they devoted themselves in their respective jobs and made great contributions the socialism construction.
President of HUST and President of HUST Alumni Association Li Dayong, Vice President Guo Erjun, Chairman of the Labor Union and Vice president of HUST Alumni Association Yangchun attended relevant activities accompanied by Director of the alumni office Chen Hongbin.
The 51 alumni had a meeting elaborately arranged by our university. At the meeting, the alumni told the president their unforgettable university life, discussed the change and development of the university, and expressed their reflections on life.
President Li Dayong expressed his warm welcome to the alumni’s homecoming to celebrate the 60thanniversary of graduation, and invited the alumni to come back each year. Meanwhile, President Li wished them health and happiness.
One of the 51 alumni Ren Shanzhi, Vice president ofthe originalHarbin Technical School, delivered a speech at the meeting. He introduced the origin and the historical evolution of the original Harbin Technical School, and expressed his great gratitude to the school’s meticulous arrangement of the celebration activities.
The alumni elaborately plan the gathering. Passion arising from expectation of reunion has burnt out. Some of them are accompanied by families due to physical discomfort; some of them come from places faraway to join in the party; some of them are unable to come due to physical discomfort but expressed wished in their own ways. The alumni made a particular video record to recall their past time.
During their homecoming, the alumni paid a visit totheSchoolHistorical Exhibition Centeraccompanied by President of the Labor Union Yangchun. He introduced the development and achievement of our university, which makes the alumni greatly encouraged and gratified.
The Alumni felt excited when they found the name of their original school in the column of the university’s historical evolution. That moment was likely to lead them to come back to sixty years ago. The photos of unrecognizable faces reminded their memories and made their past experiences running again in their mind. They prided themselves to be the first generation of HUST students. The alumni frequently took photos. During the visit of the School Historical Exhibition Center, the teacher Yu Dequan from Publicity Department introduced the School Historical Exhibition Center and presented the commemorative stamp for the 60thanniversary of the founding of our university as a gift. The reunion back in the alma mater made the alumni feel not only the enormous development of their oldschool but also the enthusiasm of the leaders, teachers and students. The alumni took photos in front of the banner prepared for their reunion.
