With the approval of the 28th meeting of Academic Degrees Committee under the State Council, four doctorate authorization first-level discipline and eight Master’s degree authorization first-level discipline of our university were authorized in march, 2011, and on March 8th, Academic Degrees Committee under the State Council together with Ministry of Education printed and distributed therevised “Degree Awarded and Talent Training Disciplinary Directory”, with the discipline categories increasing from twelve to thirteen, adding Art as a new discipline.

According to the contents ofNotice on Degree Awarded and Talent Training Disciplinary Directory to the degree authorized units should be adjusted [2011] No. 25of Academic Degrees Committee under the State Council, the corresponding disciplines of our university have prepared datum carefully, adjusted subjects actively and applied for audit about new disciplines authorized. Until now, according to the contents ofnotice on Degree Awarded and Talent Training Disciplinary Directory ’to the degree authorized units should be adjusted [2011] No. 51of Academic Degrees Committee under the State Council, the original Master’s degree of Art has been successfully adjusted to Master’s degree of Design under Art, with Master’s degree of Security Science and Engineering and Software Engineering increased.

Thus, the discipline categories of our university’s degree awarding and talent training have increased from eight to nine, doctorate authorization first-level disciplines from two to six, doctorate authorization second-level disciplines from fourteen to twenty-one, Master’s degree authorization first-level disciplines from eleven to twenty-one, Master’s degree authorization second-level disciplines from fifty-one to eighty-nine. By now, most of our university’s characteristic disciplines have established doctorate authorization with other disciplines—Master’s degree authorization, and the subject arrangements are becoming more and more reasonable, which lay a solid foundation for building a high level university and improving the overall strength for our university during the Twelfth Five-years.
