At 8 o’clock on the morning of 23^rd, September, the 2011 sports meeting was held on the sports ground on the South Campus.The Party Secretary Gao Jun, the President Li Dayong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Du Guangchun, the Vice President Wu Junfeng, Meng Dawei, Wei Xinlao, Meng Shangjiu and Guo Erjun, the chairman of Trade Union Yang Chun attended the opening ceremony of the sports meeting. The meeting was hosted by Yang Chun.

Meng Dawei, vice president, the director of physical culture and sports commission addressed at the opening ceremony. He expressed his gratitude to all the people who cared and supported the sports work. The sports meeting was the tradition of our university culture, which helped to carry out the comprehensive quality education and national fitness campaign, and enhance the university cultural taste.

President Li Dayong announced the opening of the sports meeting, and after one and a half day’s match, the meeting ended at 4 o’clock in the afternoon on 23^rd, September.

Vice President Wu Junfeng addressed at the closing ceremony. He said this sports meeting was the display of comprehensive quality and spirit of all the students and staff who endeavored to ensure the success of the sports meeting. He hoped that all the students and staff should participate the physical exercises actively, cultivate the team spirit, form a good living habit and laid the good foundation for the future study and work.

In the spots meeting this year at HUST, the first place of grand group score of student teams belonged to the School of Engineering Control and Communication, along with the second place to School of Management and third place to School of Materials Science and Engineering.

The School of Engineering Control Technology and Communication is the winner of Student Women’s competition, followed by School of Economics and School of Materials Science and Engineering. In addition, in Student Men’s competition, the team from School of Management struck out all the competitors and was titled of the first place of grand group score in this game, School of Engineering Control Technology and Communication and School of Materials Science and Engineering took on the second and third place in tandem.

In this game, there were three students broke the colonel records in different items – LinPing from School of Management broke the previous colonel record of 1 minute 6 seconds and 26 with 1 minute 6 seconds and 24 in student women’s 400m race, Niu Chengda from School of Management broke the record of 37.50m in student men’s discus throw by creating a new record of 39.05m, Li Yuxiang from School of Mechanical Engineering broke the record with 13.64m to 13.47m in the competition of men’s shot put.

In the competition among teaching and administrative staff teams, the first place of grand group score was captured by Logistics Group, Party branch organizations affiliated agencies got out the second place and the third grand group score belonged to School of Foreign Languages.

There were nine student’s teams who won the award in the competition of queue display, and the winners are as follows: Reserve Officers School, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Software Engineering, School of Applied Science, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Automation, School of Arts, School of Law and International Institute of Culture and Education.

In sportsmanship award competition, a total of nine teams are listed: Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Engineering Control Technology and Communication, School of Architectural Engineering, School of Management, School of Computer Science and Technology, School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, School of Economics and School of Marxism.

The top eight grand score groups in 2009-2011 Sports Meeting at HUST are: School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Engineering Control Technology and Communication, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Economics, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and School of Automation.

Teams of Library, Logistics Group, University Hospital and Party branch organizations affiliated agencies were awarded the “queue award” in the queue display among teaching and administrative staff.

The success of Track and Filed Games held in this year actively create the circumstance of awareness of health, unity and cooperation, spirit of teamwork and good atmosphere of equality and fraternity. And it plays an vital role in promoting the development of our university.
