The 1^st“Intellectual Property Cup” Higher Institution Invention and Innovation Contest of Heilongjiang Province drew a conclusion recently. The contest was co-hosted by Provincial Intellectual Property Bureau, Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Provincial Department of Education, Provincial Science and Technology Association and Provincial League Committee receiving active participation among Higher Institutions. For the first time, the Contest incorporated invention, utility model and appearance design into one contesting unit. The large scale of the Contest can be exemplified by 885 works from 21 universities, some of which are so excellent that they have great marketing potential. 120 items received awards. The Contest awarded works from HUST one Second Prize, three Third Prizes and Two Excellent Prizes. Provided that the prize-winning works apply for patents within half a year after the completion of the contest, Provincial Intellectual Property Bureau will fund the application fees. HUST Youth League Committee collected 25 works for the contest thanks to the active participation from students and careful guidance from teachers. The contest developed technical innovative ability of students.
