On the afternoon of May 16th, the university held an expert group meeting on college (department, center) undergraduate teaching and management evaluation, which marked the start of inner-school teaching quality evaluation. Vice President Meng Dawei attended the meeting and gave a speech. The evaluation experts presence included Guo Jianying, Ge Baojun, Lin Jiaqi, Song Qingkun, Yang Wei, Li Jingbo, Guan Zhiyao, Xu Songyuan, Si Naijun, Fu Yunpeng, Xu Guoyi, He Yunlong, Lin An, Liu Chunqing, etc.
According to the requirements of Opinions on Undergraduate Teaching Assessment (MOE[2011]NO.9), Opinions on Higher Education Quality Improvement (MOE[2012]NO.4) and HUST 12th Five-year Plan and HUST Teaching Quality Evaluation Indicator System (HUST[2010]NO.211), the university starts inner-school teaching quality evaluation in 2012. From late May to early June, the School of Measurement Control Technology and Communication Engineering, the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, and Law School will be evaluated respectively, evaluation on each school lasting two days. The evaluation indicators include 5 first-level indicators and 25 second-level indicators with 47 observation points in total. First-level indicators are the importance which was attached to teaching quality management by school leaders, staff construction and management, teaching construction management, the main teaching process management and studying effects. The School of Measurement Control Technology and Communication Engineering, the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, and Law School are three schools which took initiative to be evaluated and they all made plans and carried out self-evaluation and self-construction work from the very beginning of this semester.
Opinions on Undergraduate Teaching Assessment (MOE [2011] No. 9) points out that teaching evaluation are key measures to assess, supervise and improve the quality of teaching, which forms a key element of the national higher education quality guarantee system. The purposes of teaching evaluation are to promote teaching reform, and improve the quality of talent cultivation; to guide higher schools to rational oriented with high quality and unique characteristics; to promote social participation in talent cultivation and assessment and supervising of undergraduate teaching quality.
