1. Professor Wang Xudong Receives the Honor of “National Innovative Excellent Party Members”
In June, Professor Wang Xudong received the honor of “National Innovative Excellent Party Members” from CPC’s Organization Department. He was the only one in the higher institution of Heilongjiang province to receive the honor. He attended the award ceremony held in the Great Hall of the People. Meanwhile, President Hu Jintao gave an interview to him and other representatives.
2. 32 Projects in HUST are funded by Natural Science Foundation of China
In August, 32 projects in HUST were funded by Natural Science Foundation of China including 1 key project, 15 general projects, and 16 science fund for the youth. The funded revenue amounted to 18,670,000. The breakthrough in the key project signified the recognition from other counterparts of the progress of HUST.
3. HUST wins the Award of National Staff Sports Model Unit
In March, China Federation of Trade Unions and State Physical Administration awarded HUST “National Staff Sports Model Unit”. There are altogether 38 units received the honor. HUST is the only school to receive the honor among the educational sector in China.
4. HUST Newly Increases the Mobile Post-doctoral Stations for Business Administration
In September, HUST received official approval to set up the Mobile Post-doctoral Stations for Business Administration according to the Notice from Human Resource Department, Department of Social Security and National Post-Doctor Regulatory Commission. There are six Mobile Post-doctoral Stations in HUST, which contributed significantly to advanced talents cultivation and the construction of high-level university.
5.HUST is Approved of Six National Engineering Practical Educating Center
In September, Ministry of Education and other 23 departments approved of 626 enterprises to be national engineering practical educating center. HUST was approved of six joint-constructed national engineering practical educating centers. The purpose is to provide students with practical experience. The center is the key platform to carry out engineering practical education. 194 universities and 980 enterprises jointly applied for national engineering practical educating center. Six centers applied by HUST were totally approved of.
6.HUST is Approved of “Infrastructure Construction Project of Midwest Universities ”
The National Development and Reform Committee and the Ministry of Education implemented“Infrastructure Construction Project of Midwest Universities” in order to improve their educating capability and teaching quality. In September, theNational Development and Reform Committee and the Ministry of Education jointly issued the file to publish the list of universities being funded. HUST was among the list. The implementation of the project is going to improve the lab and enhance the teaching quality.
7. Two Disciplines in HUST are authorized by “The Outstanding Plan” of the Ministry of Education
In March, Ministry of Education issued the disciplines list of the plan to teach outstanding engineers. Machinery Design and Manufacture and Automation were authorized by “The Outstanding Plan” of the Ministry of Education.
8.The Science Garden is Recognized as the National Practical Training Base by the Ministry of Education
On August 15th, the “National Internet Technology Practical Talents Training Base” and the “National Rural Informationization Talents Practical Training Center” settled down in the science garden of HUST, which were recognized by the Ministry of Education.
9. Counselor Liu Di received the Honor of “Person of the Year in2011”
In April, Liu Di, counselor from the School of Officers, received the Entry Prize for “Person of the Year in 2011”—an appraisal for excellent university counselors. The appraisal was organized by the Ministry of Education, the National Counselors Research Committee and China Education Daily. The party committee of HUST always emphasizes the cultivation and promotes the professionalization of excellent counselors.
10. Liu Zhuofu Received the Third Prize in National Teaching Competition for University Teachers
In August 27, the first National Teaching Competition for University Teachers was held in Tianjin University. Representing the engineering sector in Heilongjiang Province, Liu Zhuofu from theSchool of Measurement-Control Technology and Communications Engineeringattended the Competition and received the third prize in it. The competition was participated by 93 excellent teachers from 80 universities in the national level. The excellent performance of Liu Zhuofu displayed the advanced educating theory, outstanding teaching skills and profound quality of the young teachers in HUST.
