This year is the beginning to implement the spirit of the 18thCPC National Congress and also the crucial period to carry out the developing plan of the “12thFive-year Plan”. In order to clarify the target of work, on March 5th, HUST held a conference for middle-level cadres and outstanding teachers. The conference summarized the work in 2012 and arranged the major tasks in the new term. Party Secretary Gao Jun and President Li Dayong attended the conference and delivered important speeches. School leaders Du Guangchun, Meng Dawei, Wei Xinlao, Lu Yan, Meng Shangjiu, Guo Erjun, Yang Chun, Meng Zhuang and Rong Panxiang also attended the conference. Participants of the conference included middle-level cadres, doctoral supervisors, provincial disciplinary heads, and deans of departments.
Gao Jun pointed out that in 2012, the goal of the work has been attained. The major goals are as follows: first, reform is supposed to be deepened to promote the comprehensive development of HUST; second, improving the well-being of the staff and students is emphasized. He also advocated that all the staff were required to study continuously with great enthusiasm.
Li Dayong fully illustrated the working background, the prospect of higher education, the strengths and challenges of HUST. Furthermore, he pointed out clearly the working plan and major targets in 2013. Centered on improving educating quality, the staff are supposed to invigorate HUST through reform, innovation and diligence. The university is going to improve greatly in educating quality, staff, research, management, school environment and facility.
Gao Jun asked the attendants to deliver and implement the idea of the conference seriously. Schools and departments are required to work diligently under the guidance of the goal of the university and the idea of the conference.
