On the afternoon of March 12, the 1^stTeaching Conference in this semester was held. Vice President Meng Dawei attended the meeting and delivered an important speech. The leaders of the Office of Academic Affairs, Management Department of Laboratories, Higher Education Administration and other teaching units were also present at the conference, which was chaired by the Director of the Office of Academic Affairs Ge Baojun.

At the conference, in accordance with the Education Project of the Ministry of Education, the implement of 30 Articles of Higher Education, the Twelfth Five-year Plan of HUST as well as the spirit of 2013 HUST Teaching Plan, Vice President Meng Dawei claimed to deepen the educational and teaching reform, strengthen the project building for the undergraduate teaching, carry out the comprehensive reform trial work for the undergraduate majors, accelerate the Excellent Engineers Plan and the comprehensive reform for the trial colleges, insist the motivation of the projects, stimulate the characteristic development, consolidate the fundamental position of teaching, advance the mode reform for the talents cultivation and constantly improve the quality of the education and teaching.

What’s more, Vice President Meng Dawei made the deployment in five aspects of undergraduate teaching project, teaching guarantee, improvement of practical and innovative ability of the undergraduates, improvement of teaching management ability and teaching reform distinctive building, and he made the important complement for the 2013 undergraduate teaching work, assigning the undergraduate teaching project and the current featured video courses and high-level teaching material construction carried out by the Ministry of Education and other relevant work.

The Director of the Office of Academic Affairs Ge Baojun gave the specified arrangement for the 2013 teaching work, claimed more normative and stricter requirements for the teaching management work, as well as teaching and examining discipline, reported the teaching operation of the beginning of this semester and made detailed arrangement of teaching work for the semester.

The Director of theManagement Department of Laboratories Lin Jiaqi made the arrangement for the laboratory teaching work in the new semester, reported the building development of the virtual laboratory which was being constructed and made the arrangement for the work in the next phrase concerning the 2013 Teaching Plan for the undergraduates.

The Head ofHigher Education Administration Cui Yuxiang made the arrangement for the teaching reform, including the acquirement and achievement development of the teaching reform symbolic projects, the more support of HUST for the featured projects and the standard and procedural management for the teaching research projects.

At last, Vice President Meng Dawei emphasized that in 2012, in spite of the arduous work for the teaching staff, substantial achievements had been got, which laid a solid foundation for the future work. However, the shortcomings should be overcome and the professional comprehensive reform trial should be actively carried out according to the diversity of the students. In 2013, the teaching work would be still hard, but with the faith, the practical work would made the university thriving. So long as everyone made concerted effort with determination and courage, the teaching work would be done well.
