On August 27th, “Symposium on the President Daheng Experimental Elite Class” is held in No. 4 conference room of the No. 1 building on the West Campus. President Li Dayong, Vice President Meng Dawei attended the symposium. Relevant leaders of the Department of Teaching Affairs and School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, instructor, teachers and students attended the symposium which was hosted by Ge Baojun, the head of the Department of Teaching Affairs.

Li Dayong delivered a lecture in the conference. On behalf of the university, he extended his congratulations to the students of President Daheng Experimental Elite Class. As the initiator and advocator of the Elite Class, Li Dayong made an introduction of the background of the class and the life of Prof. Wang Daheng. The class is named after Wang Daheng, the late President of HUST, famous scientist, the receiver of the Medal foratomicandhydrogenbombsandman-madesatellite, academicianoftheChineseAcademyofSciencesandChineseAcademyofEngineering, which is of great significance.

Li Dayong emphasized that the school attached great importance to the class, which was in the charge of Meng Dawei. Ge Baojun, and Vice Director of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Zhou Meilan are the academic instructors. The Vice Director of the Department of the Teaching Affairs Li Jingbo, and the Vice General Secretary of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Yang Fang are the Counselors. Meanwhile, experienced teachers are selected to be the lecturers. Furthermore, excellent teaching facility is allocated to the class.

The students in this class are supposed to cherish the opportunity and make every effort to study. Li Dayong hoped that the students should inherit the practical style, innovative spirit, gregarious character and optimistic attitude from Wang Daheng. Meng Dawei introduced the purpose, target, teaching, management and incentive of the class. Based on the excellent teaching resources inside and outside of the campus, the Elite Class stressed the cultivation of practical and innovative ability to foster prominent elites with solid academic foundation.

The attendants of the Symposium exchanged ideas on the study plan, cultivation model and future work. The university is going to make systematic plan on the cultivation strategy, teaching plan, teaching model, management and teaching method to establish the cultivation model of elites in HUST.
