Our Electrical Engineering and Automation has approved to be pilot project of Undergraduate Comprehensive Reform by the Ministry of Education. Recently, The Ministry of Education has published the first pilot list of undergraduate comprehensive reform, which approved 550 majors to be pilot project.
Our Electrical Engineering and Automation, setting up in 1958, is the first class of national, provincial key and the traditional dominant specialty in our university. It includes 5 subject areas, which are Motor and Electric Appliances, High Voltage Technology, Electric Insulation and Cable, Power System and Automation, and Power Electronics and Electrical Drives. This specialty, having long history and obvious professional characteristics, enjoys high reputation in the national electrical equipment manufacturing industry. It grasps the laws and directions of higher educational development accurately, focuses on the connotation construction, and explores the reform and innovation of talent training mode, curriculum system and teaching staff construction. It gets significant results by adopting innovative talents cultivation practice based on enterprise demands. The graduates welcomed by enterprises.
The pilot project of Undergraduate Comprehensive Reform is one of the important contents of Undergraduate Teaching Quality and Teaching Reform Project (short for Undergraduate Teaching Engineering) by the Ministry of Education during the 12th Five-Year period. And it continues and deepens specialty construction project of Undergraduate Quality Engineering in 11th Five-Year period.
Implementing the pilot project of Specialty Comprehensive Reform aims to guide universities to meet the need of national strategy and the local economic and social development, to take their initiatives and creativities, to improve the talent-producing program, and to clarify specialty training objectives and the key of construction. It aims to promote the overall promotion of the talent training, and to lead the specialty reform and the construction of its own or other related universities.
