On Nov.5, after a series of strict verifications,Electromechanics, one of HUST’s national good qualified courses, which is supervised by Professor Ge Baojun, the general provost of HUST’s ofTeaching Affairs, was formally authorized as a nationally-shared good qualified course as well as HUST’s first online course of Icourses available to the public freely.

The website of Icourses is a platform for China’s project of national good-quality courses construction for free public admission,as well as an important part of “the 12th five year”planning of “undergraduate curricula”,aiming at making full use of advantages of IT and other modern technologies to fulfill the better communication of good teaching resources, experiences, etc.,between universities, showing the achievement China has made in higher education up to now, and promoting the changing of education and teaching concepts as well as further reforms in teaching contents and methods. Besides nationally-shared good qualified courses, the project also plans to provide plenty of excellent video courses made by some universities on the website for every learner to study at every time, which should be revolutionary in China’s higher education.

There are 79 courses (34 for undergraduates, 40 for vocational college students and 5 for network teaching ) from 64 universities, colleges or institutes being authored as online courses of Icourses by MOE in this verification, covering science, engineering, psychology, education, management, and some other subjects.

HUST is always paying a special attention to the construction of her own nationally-shared good qualified courses for Icourses, whileElectromechanics, as a national good qualified course of HUST authorized as early as 2007, was determined as the “candidate” for nationally-shared good qualified courses as well as HUST’s online course of Icourses, and the application work was launched formally in June, 2012.

With the guidance of HUST’s leading staff, as well as the joint effort made by the working staff fromSchool of Electric and Electronic Engineering,DepartmentTeaching Affairs andotherHUST’s relevant functional departmentsfor more than one year inElectromechanics’coursetransformation and upgrading, whole teaching process’ video making,web revision, resource extension and reassignment,etc.,the course was successfullyauthorized as aprovincially-sharedgood qualified course and ranked in the MOE’s nationally-shared good qualified curriculum. Then, at the end of October,2013, it finally went through MOE’s investigation and was permitted to login to Icourses (http://www.icourses.cn/coursestatic/course_3361.html) .of

Now HUST is working on her construction of video-based curricula as well as promoting other shared good qualified courses to provide more excellent courses and teaching resources for the whole society to make full use of.
