Recently, Hu Jun a young teacher from our university received the notice that Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers he claimed got approval from Humboldt Foundation. And he will be a Humboldt scholar, doing research in Institute of Control Systems at University of Kaiserslautern in Germany.
Hu Jun, major in Applied Mathematics studied in Institute of Applied Science and Technology in our university from September 2002 to March 2009, getting the degree of Bachelor of Science and Master of Science. And he obtained Engineering Doctorate Degree from Aviation School of Harbin Institute of Technology. After graduation, he chose to work for his alma mater.
During his doctorial study, being the student of Professor Wang Zidong, a prominent scholar in the subject of International Monitoring in Brunel University and Professor Gao Huijun, a Cheung Kong Scholar in Harbin Institute of Technology, he has been to Brunel University as a visiting scholar for two years, doing research in control of complex dynamic system and filtering under network environment. He has published 18 SCI papers, in which 2 papers inAutomatica, 1 paper inIEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1 paper inIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2 papers inInternational Journal of Control, 1 paper inSystem & Control Lettersand 3 papers as ESI highly cited papers. The highest citation for one paper reaches 40 times and 70 times for GOOGLE academic citation.
Hu jun’s return to work is a typical case of our university in bringing in talents. After graduation in 2013, with love for our university and trust for our teachers, Hu jun return his alma mater for work, abandoning generous treatment from other universities. The colleagues and leaders also give him great support, helping him to solve many living problems. He performs excellent for this year, and gets many awards, such as the award for 100 Most Influential Academic Papers in China, 2012 and Youth Fund Subject of National Natural Science Foundation, 2013. And he has become a important reviewer in international periodicals likeIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Control Systems TechnologyandAutomatica. Receiving Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers proves his distinguished ability in academic study, which also provides good opportunity for our university to establish international cooperation in mathematics and related discipline.
Introduction of Humboldt Research Fellowship
The foundation sponsors a number of competitive fellowships, ranging from postdoctoral to senior visiting professors, primarily for foreign academics from the areas of humanities, sciences and engineering. Funds are given to finance long-term research visits to Germany usually for a period of 6–24 months. The foundation also awards a number of large prizes for lifetime accomplishment and for "top flight" young researchers, such as the Humboldt Prize and Sofia Kovalevskaya Award. Awards from the foundation are considered to be among the most prestigious and generous awards in Germany.
