A delegation ofMr. Andre Pruchenko (President) and Mr. Wang Jianlin (Gruaduate)from the Amur State University of Russia came to visit our university on June, 4 at the invitation of HUST.

After a warm welcome, Li Dayong, President of HUST, had a talk with the delegation. He made an introduction to the guests of our university’s historical development, faculty, professional features and international cooperation. He also commented that the Amur State University was a well-known comprehensive university in Russia and the two universities shared many similarities in study fields andspecialities, which laid good foundations for cooperations and exchanges in teaching and scientific research between each other. HUST having a special interest in its cooperation with universities in Russia, President Li was quite sure of the bright future of the cooperation between the two univeristies.

Having expressed his thanks to President Li’s invitation and cordial reception, President Andre Pruchenko showed his expectations for further cooperations. He said that after President Putin’s visit to China, the two countries had signed many industrial cooperation agreements, of which the cooperations of petrolium, natural gas, water power station and space launch bases etc. were implemented in Amur state. This would bring along cooperations in engineering field in many ways. He welcomed the specialists from HUST to Amur state for observations and in pursuit of opportunities of cooperation with Russia. He also pointed out that the exchange student program between the two universities was going on quite well and thanks to the great learning atmosphere and living enviornment provided by HUST, the exchange students from Amur State University had a wonderful time in their life and studies in HUST. They hoped to discover new channels of coorporation in teacher exchange and scientific research on the basis of the present cooperation. President Li Dayong thought highly of this proposal. He added that the two universities should present the instructions of the teachers’ scientific fields for further mutual understanding and common ground of cooperation.
