The 5^thAnnual Conference of Harbin Association for Science and Technology was held in HUST, the theme being “Technological Innovation and Regional Development.” Zhang Lixin, Member of the Municipal Standing Committee, Minister of the Municipal Propaganda Department, attended and addressed the conference. Li Dayong, President of HUST, the Vice President of the Harbin Association for Science and Technology also attended and addressed the conference. Also present were leaders and experts from different departments: the General Secretary, Vice President of Harbin Association for Science and Technology Han Wentai, the Deputy Minister of the Municipal Organization Department Liu Yanzhu, the Deputy Minister of the Municipal Propaganda Department Lan Feng and the Vice President of Harbin Association for Science and Technology Zhang Shaoyu. The Conference was presided by Han Wentai.

On behalf of HUST, Li Dayong expressed his congratulations towards the conference, and the warm welcome towards the leaders and representatives. Meanwhile, from the standpoint of Harbin Association for Science and Technology, he conveyed his gratitude to the experts for their contribution to the development of science and technology. He pointed out that the purpose of the Conference was to provide intellectual support for the implementation of new strategy and the Conference was a great event for the intellectuals and reserchers to communicate with each other. According to him, the faculty in HUST has long been reflecting and practicing the cultivation of innovative talents. He expected that more talents emerged from HUST and participated in the local economic and social construction contributing to the regional development of Harbin.

Zhang Lixin pointed out that Harbin Association for Science and Technology was the bridge between the Municipal Government and the intellectuals. The economic development of Harbin was at the turning point of promoting development through innovation. The theme “Technological Innovation and Regional Development” was of great significance to enhancie the scientific development of Harbin.

Han Wentai concluded the conference. He emphasized that under the leadership of the Municipal government, Harbin Association for Science and Technology would further organize the intellectuals to carry out academic communication and research to provide suggestions and make contributions to the local economic development.
