The summer of 2014 saw a boom of homecoming alumni in HUST, which drew a close attention of HUST leading staff. On the afternoon of August 9, accompanied by Yang Chun, chairman of HUST worker union, Party secretary Zhao Guogang came to “Home of Alumni” to inspect its construction as well as guide the work of homecoming alumni reception.
During the inspection, Party Secretary Zhao carefully listened to a detailed report on the fundamental information of “Home of Alumni” made by Chairman Yang so as to learn its personnel makeup, general layout, internal facility and overall operation, etc., at first. He made comments on the picture exhibited on both sides of the corridor walls, and spoke highly of “Home of Alumni” according to the affectionate parting words some homecoming alumni left on the message board. He also gave a full affirmation on this summer’s homecoming alumni reception work, and point out the significance of homecoming alumni reception to the development of a university, hoping all staff members of “Home of Alumni” to explore more efficient working methods, for which he presented some concrete suggestions.
It happened to be the time when some 20 Casting-majored homecoming alumni of Grade 90 gathering in one dorm of “Home of Alumni” to celebrate their reunion after 20 year’s graduation, so Party Secretary Zhao and Chairman Yang went to visit them specially, who were greatly moved and applauded warmly.
Both sides held a cordial talk with each other and shared viewpoints on different matters. Finally, Party Secretary Zhao and Chairman Yang drank a tea mug toast with the alumni on their invitation and left, but the happy laughter still lingered in the dorm.
