To implement the document spirit onHUST Regulations on Banning Smoking in Public Places,carry out the education on smoking banning and control, make our students and staff getting acquaintance with the danger of tobacco, and to control AIDS effectively, the lecture onTobacco Control and HIV Preventionheld in lecture hall of Building No.1 west campus at 2p.m. April 22, which held by our university office, Party Committee Propaganda Department, Students’ Affairs Office and university hospital.

Subject No. 1 “I Refuse Passive Smoking.”

Professor Zhang Jingdong, Director of tobacco control office inHarbinCenterfor Disease Control & Prevention and national tobacco control expert, was invited to our university delivering his lecture to our staff and students on tobacco control.

Professor Zhang Jingdong introduced that smoking has been the most serious public health issue inChina. Peng Liyuan has made a call “I refuse passive smoking” throughout the whole country. He introduced the status quo on smoking inHarbinand the reasons for that. He called the students for make their effort to create the no smoke campus.

Subject No. 2 No AIDS on our Campus

Director Feng Zhonglian inHarbinCenterfor Disease Control & Prevention delivered her lecture on the knowledge of AIDS control. With ideological emancipation, the increasing number of migration movement, and emphasizing on physiological and psychological needs, AIDS increased year by year. She introduced the causes and the routes of transmission on AIDS in order to increase the preventive awareness.

In the end, she appeal our students to master the knowledge and skills on preventing AIDS, establishing the sense of social responsibility and right sexual morality, fostering healthy lifestyle, and creating a better social environment for AIDS prevention. At the same time, she advocates the spirit of humanity, charity and contribution, setting up a fair and tolerance environment for AIDS patients.
