HUST Students Win a Prize at the 6th Session of “Blue Bridge Cup” National Software and IT Pro Competition

Recently the results of the Sixth Session of “Blue Bridge Cup” National Software and Information Technology Professional Competition were published, sponsored by Talent Exchange Center of Industry Department and Employment Guidance Center of Education Department, and undertaken by HUST. From our university, 101 students won awards. The sum of the first prize, the awarded students, and winning rate ranked first inHeilongjiangProvince. Besides, our university won the Excellent School Award and the Outstanding Organization Award.

During this competition, students from our university received 91 awards in software competitions (C/C++ Program Designing Provincial Competition Group B, JAVA Software Developing Provincial Competition Group B), among which 27 students received the first prize (85 students received the first prize in our province), 33 students won the second prize, and 32 students won the third prize. Moreover, students from our university received 10 awards in electronic competitions (Design and Development of SCM, Embedded Design and Development), among which 1 student won the first prize, 2 students won the second prize, and 7 students won the third prize.

Twenty-eight students winning the first prize would attend the national finals inBeijingon May 30 to 31, and compete with students from other universities for the highest honor. For the first, second, and third prize in the finals, if they could be given exemption from the Postgraduate Entrance Examination, they could also be qualified for interviews from many famous universities, such as the Institute of Microelectronics and software of Peking University, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Institute of Technology of South China, Southwestern University, Beijing Jiaotong University. Moreover, they will be given preferential admission to be the postgraduate students. Meanwhile, many famous listed companies, such as IBM, Neusoft Corporation, Fangzheng International Corporation, Asiainfo-Linkage, will provide the winners with the “green” channel to enter interviews without written exams. Besides, the outstanding candidates could be hired directly without examinations.

Our university had been winning excellent prizes in the competitions. Compared with the previous years, the competition had a bigger breakthrough this year. The organization of the competition was undertaken by Academic Affairs Office andSchoolofSoftware, whose work had been evaluated positively by organizing committee form the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The achievement of the competition was the result of joint efforts from university leaders, and teachers fromSchoolofSoftwareandSchoolofComputer. Our students were expected to make persistent efforts to make great achievement in the national finals!
