Delegate of Iowa State University Visits HUST

Invited by HUST, Vice Director of the Humanistic School in Iowa State University and the Dean of HUST American Cultural Center Linda Serra Hagedorn visited HUST from January 25 to 27. Her assistant Doctor Liran accompanied her.

During the visit, General Secretary Zhao Guogang met Linda Serra Hagedorn. Zhao extended his warm welcome towards Linda Serra Hagedorn and expressed his gratitude towards Hagedorn for her help during HUST’s visit in Iowa. Zhao said that the American cultural center is the foundation for the cooperation between the two universities.

On January 25, Vice President Zhao Hong met the delegate. The two universities had a match in terms of curriculum for the forthcoming cooperation and specified the cooperative field. Hagedorn agreed that discrepency existed in curriculum design between Amercian and Chinese universities, so curriculum match is of great importance.

On January 26, the two parties held a ceremony for the inauguration of HUST’s American Cultural Center. Discussion about the summer camp and Sino-US cultural communication Internet conference was conducted.

The participants of the meeting included the Director of International Cooperation and Communication Department Xi Zhaohui, Vice Director of the Teaching Affairs Department Song Qingkun, Vice Director of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering School Zhou Meilan, Vice Director of Computer Science School Tang Yuanxin, Vice Director of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering School Zhang Guiling, Vice Director of Automation School Gao Junshan, Vice Director of Foreign Languages School Guo Hong, and Vice Director of International Cooperation and Communication Shao Yang.
