From May 15 to 16, the 10thUndergraduate Programming Contest in Heilongjiang Province was held smoothly in HIT, which was sponsored by Heilongjiang Provincial Education Department and Heilongjiang Academy of Computer Science. There were 145 teams coming from 25 universities fromHeilongjiangProvinceand other provinces. To provide more chances to freshmen, our teams were orientated towards freshmen. Besides, our university only sent six teams selected from seniors, which included one team for female students. Through struggling for five hours, 20 teams from our university won 4 items of the first prize (There were 12 items of the first prize in the contest), 1 item of the second prize, 10 items of the third prize, and 5 items of the prize of excellence. The team won the first prize, formed by Chen Xingliang fromComputer Science and Technology Grade 2012, Wang Haotian form Network Engineering Grade 2013, and Gao Fang from Network Engineering Grade 2013. It broke the situation that HIT would always win the first prize.
FromMay 16 to 17, the 9thUndergraduate Programming Contest in Northeast Region was also held smoothly in HIT, which was sponsored by Academy of Computer Science in Heilongjiang Province, Jilin Province, Liaoning Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. There were 165 teams from 49 universities includingTianjinUniversity. Through struggling for five hours, 9 teams from our university won 1 item of the first prize, 4 items of the second prize, 3 items of the third prize, and 1 item of the prize of excellence. In the recent ten years, more and more excellent computer professionals were discovered and cultivated by the Undergraduate Programming Contest inHeilongjiangProvinceand Northeast Region. Through attending the contest, students not only were trained well in algorithm and programming, but also gained a lot in active learning, self-management, teamwork and so on. Students having attended the contest were preferred by tutors and companies, and became the fresh troops in scientific research and development.
Through taking part in the contest, students were improved a lot in algorithm, logical reasoning, mathematical modeling, programming and English reading ability. At last, students were improved greatly in employment competitiveness. In care and support of leaders, Academic Affairs Office and other departments, all kinds of competitions and trainings were carried on in our university. Lots of participants from various majors were enrolled by many famous ICT companies, such as Baidu, Tencent, Alibaba, Huawei, Sina. Moreover, many participants were admitted to be postgraduates byPeking University,ZhejiangUniversity, University of Chinese Academy of Science and some other well-known universities.
