Dear faculty members,

The 31stTeachers’ Day is drawing near at this beautiful autumn season with golden crops in the fields and colorful fruits on the trees. On the occasion of the Teachers’ Day approaching and on behalf of our university, I would like to extend my greatest thanks, greetings and blessings to those dedicated faculty members who have been working hard and doing undying devotions to the development of our university. “Happy Teachers’ Day!”

One of the Chinese sayings goes: “the prosperity of a nation rests on education and that of education on teachers”. As teachers, you persist in teaching principles of “Learning to instruct others, and acting to serve as example to all” and you take “the formula of morality” as your education mission. Thanks to your love to the students and your wonderful work, we now have students all over the world. You indeed deserve the title of “Engineers of the Human Soul”.

You always keep in mind our university motto: “Unification of knowing and doing— profound and long-standing”. You have elaborated on the spirit of HUST and theChina’s dream thoroughly by doing your responsibilities and giving your love to the students. You are very strict with the students and your strictness is like a sharp carving knife used to remove the impurities out of wonderful jades. Your devotion to work is like a direction sign leading people forward, and your wisdom is like a shining beacon guiding the ships of their voyages. Thanks to you and your hard work, we find the right direction of life rather than lost in directions and move forward bravely when faced with difficulties.

InChina, the dedication of teachers to education is usually described as silkworms and candles from two lines of an ancient Chinese poem: “A silkworm keeps spinning silk until it dies. A candle keeps shedding tears until it becomes ashes”. If it had not been for your hard work and painstaking efforts, we would not have got today’s brilliant achievements. Being the graduates of HUST, we are responsible to do whatever we can to strengthen ouralma mater. Let’s do contributions to the bright future of our university by deepening the comprehensive reform of education, promoting the scientific development of education, and adhering to the spirit of HUST as “Honesty of humanity, Dependence of behavior, Patron of learning, and Reverence for learners”

“When drinking water, one thinks of its source;when having made progress, one thinks of its teacher”. This Chinese proverb can be best used to describe my gratitude to teachers. On this coming Teachers’ Day, I’d like again to express my deepest love, most profound gratitude and best blessings to you—the beloved teachers. I wish you a happy Teachers’ Day, good health, a happy family life and good luck in everything. Thank you.
