Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today, with great reverence, in order to commemorate Wang Daheng’s 100thanniversary, we hold the bronze statue unveiling ceremony for our old president Wang Daheng, discussing about his scientific and educational thoughts and memorying his great deeds.
Mr. Wang Daheng was an academician in Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering and International Academy of Astronautics. He is an outstanding strategic scientist and educator, a founding father of “Two Bombs and One Satellite” and excellent Party member. He is the founder, leader and organizer in the study of modern optics engineering.He set up Changchun Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, and Harbin University of Science and Technology. He held the post of the president from 1978 to 1983. And he was employed to be the Chancellor in Harbin University of Science and Technology. The universities and research institutes led by him cultivate a large number of experts in science and technology.
Ladies and gentlemen, at the moment of Wang Daheng’s 100thanniversary birth, our staff and students retrospect his brilliant life. We should study and analysis his precious spiritual wealth which he leaves to us, making effort to build our university with distinctive characteristics and high teaching and research levels.
