On August 1, more than 380 alumni from Insulation Material major of Grade 81, Electrical Engineering major of Grade 91, Electrical Material major of Grade 91, Electromagnetic Measurement & Instrument major of Grade 91, Equipment Engineering & Management major of Grade 91 and Finance major of Grade 92 came home. Promoted and organized by Alumni House of HUST, the number of the home-coming alumni reached the largest ever in the past summer break. As planed, alumni celebrated the gatherings in their own major or class group respectively. President Li Dayong, Vice President Yang Chun and former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Lu Mingjuan specially came to greet the alumni in the east campus and had lunch together with them.

President Li Dayong and other leaders from the university inspected the cafeteria at around 11:00 a.m. and double checked the food before the alumni came. Seeing and/or hearing that President Li and other leaders specially came to see them, the alumni were in high spirits and felt that they were actually at home. After greetings, President Li and other leaders took photos together with the alumni of each major. Before lunch, president Li made a welcoming speech. He expressed how much the alumni were expected and welcomed back home. He demonstrated the great changes and the present situations of the university. Before he closed his speech, he extended regards from the university. The cafeteria was full of warm chatting, cheerful talking and happy laugher. The alumni acted as what they had done in university before graduation like waiting in line for serving, having food together around big tables and so on. They expressed their great thanks to the organizers for their excellent job and the well-arranged schedule of the gathering and said that this home-coming gathering would work as an ever-lasting link between the alumni and the university, which was unforgettable.
