From July 28 to 30,50 alumni enrolled in 1960 as majors of Electrical Machinery Manufacture or Machinery Manufacture by HUST, gathered in their Alma Mater from different parts of China to celebrate their 55th anniversary of admission.
As HUST’s receptionists, Li Guifang, the former vice principal of HJIT(Harbin Junior Institute of Technology, the name of HUST’s North Campus during 1993-1995)as well as one of the alumni majored in Machinery Manufacture, Zhang Fengde, the former Party secretary of HUST’s School of Computer Science & Technology as well as one of the alumni majored in Machinery Manufacture,Wei Hongen, the former director of HJIT’s Office of General Services as well as one of the alumni majored in Electrical Machinery Manufacture and the sports director of Student Union, Liu Jun, the adviser of HUST’s Alumnus Association, Yan Shibin, the former director of HUST’s Office for Retired Staff, Yu Xianchen, the former Party secretary of HUST’s Hospital, and two retired teachers, Liu Xiangwu and Zhang Xiuyun, participated in the gathering.
After some 50 years, all these alumni are in their70’s, and have gained deep insights in friendship among them. They got together at the main entrance of West Campus on the early morning of July 28 and then directly went to the symposium hosted byWei Hongenin the fourth meeting room of theFirstBuildingto share their joyfulness and excitement with one another. Liu Jun, Yan Shibin and Yu Xianchen attended the symposium,too.
After the symposium, it was at noon and the alumni went to the first dinning hall to have their lunch, and were moved deeply by the cook’s enthusiasm, who elaborately prepared them the “old” dishes that they had ever enjoyed again and again when they were in HUST.
In the afternoon, the alumni went to look around West Campus, South Campus and East Campus, and esp, visited HUST History Museums, guided by the volunteers of “Home of HUST Alumni”, where they lived during the 3-day homecoming celebration and talked about their own endless stories having happened since 55 years ago.
To expressed their appreciation to Alma Mater, the alumni donated a freezer to “Home of HUST Alumni”, while Yu Hui, a member who is good at calligraphy among them, donated two works of calligraphy to HUST.
