HUST “Arts with Interest” Group Wins Financial Support from National “Motivation Actions of Hope Project”

On July 11 and 12, the Motivate Action of Hope Project, held by China Youth Development Foundation and Cultural Education Department of British Embassy, was reviewed successfully in Beijing. The project—“Creative Handcraft-Stimulates the Entrepreneurial Dream” from Harbin University of Science and Technology finally won the¥200,000 support. This is the first time that our university won the national public welfare project. Jiang Guoyu, deputy secretary of University Youth League Committee, Zhang Honglei from Arts College and the group “Arts with Interest” attended the project defense.

The group “Arts with Interest” was created in May, 2014. The project won 2014 Motivate Action support and actively carrys out the public welfare activities. More than 3,000 university students take part in the volunteering service and help around 700 stay-at-home children. At the same time, they accumulated more than 80 thousand donation for the Hope Project. This group was reported widely by the media.

It is reported that this project is to initiate the university students to carry out the volunteering service, and in the meanwhile solve the problems by the way of business operation. The project involves many fields including environmental conservation, community service, health and medicare, culture and art, legal aid and disadvantaged group care. (Photographs: Zhang Honglei)
