Since the 18thCPC National Congress, General Secretary Xi has delivered a series of important speeches which, aboundantly nutritional in thoughts and profoundly meaningful in theory, are regarded as the latest achievements of Maxism in China and provide explicit answers to the theoretical and practical questions related to the Party and the country in the new historical conditions. In order to help the young Party members grasp the nature and the system of the four “getting-into’s” and four “trusting-in’s” scientifically and systemically, Professor Lu Yan, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of HUST and President of HUST Party School , made a thematic counseling report entitled Mastering theEssence of General Secretary Xi’s Speeches and Strengthening Ideality and Beliefto those young Party members in the conference hall on the 5th floor of New Teaching Building at 13:00 pm on November 8. With more than 1,200 young Party members present at the meeting, the report was hosted by Wang Lijuan, Undersecretary of the Organization Department of Party Committee (United Front Work) of HUST.
On the basis of her own thinking, research and findings, Deputy Secretary Lu Yan, constructed her report in 3 parts by reorganizing the new orientations, new viewpoints and new inferences in General Secretary Xi’s speeches.
Part one of her report was the background and significance of studying the essence of General Secretary Xi’s speeches. With the world’s situations changing fast, our Party is faced with more severe challenges than ever in its governance, with the people’s needs growing day by day physically and spiritually, the people’s demand for a better style of the Party is increasing quickly, and with the implementation of all-round reforms to a deeper level, our Party is burdened with a heavy load in managing and governing the Party in a more strict way which leaves our Party in face of a new great battle with special historic characteristics. In such a new situation, a further study of the essence of General Secretary Xi’s speeches must be a prerequisite and basis in keeping us consistent with the Party Central Committee in politics, ideology and action, an inner demand in enhancing the theoretical quality and moral cultivation of the Party members and cadres, an important way in strengthening their working abilities and leadership skills, and a source of motivation in inspiring their endeavor spirits and passion for creations
Part two of her report is the content of studying the essence of General Secretary Xi’s speeches. In her report, Deputy Secretary Lu Yan focused on 6 statements as the persistence and development of socialism, the comprehensive deep reform and opening up, the scientific development in economic society, the construction of the Party, and the work of ideology.
Part three is the steadfastness of the belief of the Party members. She said that young Party members should steady their beliefs of Marxism, set up a lofty ideal of communism, persevere in the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and strengthen their Party spirit. She stated that young Party members should uphold the principles of democratic centralism, criticism and self criticism, life in the Party, and solidarity on the basis of the Party spirit.
She continued to point out that young Party members should pay more attention to the study of Marxist theory, Party line, guidelines and policies, laws and regulations, history of the Party, history ofChina, Chinese excellent traditional culture, politics and economy etc. and play a leading role in the vanguard of Party members. Young Party members must be advanced in ideology, solid in theory, hardworking in study, courageous in practice so that they can be examples in serving the people. Young Party members ought to strengthen their awareness of serving the people by making more innovations in their jobs and keep in mind the principle of “Five Cautiousness” (i.e. cautiousness of the beginning, cautiousness of acting alone, cautiousness of trifle things, cautiousness of wordings, and cautiousness of manners) in their lives.
She called for the young Party members to accomplish the Four Truly’s (truly learning, truly understanding, truly believing, and truly practicing) in the practice of studying the essence of General Secretary Xi’s speeches. Truly learning means learning proactively, earnestly, solidly, systematically, perseveringly and constantly. Truly understanding implies that the broad and profound theoretical systems and meanings of the essence of General Secretary Xi’s speeches should be grasped and mastered completely. Truly believing is believing the right choice of road, theory and system in deep mind and soul so that all the Party members will become steadfast believers, faithful executors, active practitioners, and active promoters of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Truly practicing indicates applying the essence of General Secretary Xi’s speeches to practice in guidance of our study, work and life by integrating theory with practice. Deputy Secretary Lu Yan hoped that the young Party members should encourage themselves by the Four Hopes (hard-working, virtue-improving, clear discrimination, honesty and reliability) given by General Secretary Xi inBeijingUniversityand inspire themselves to work hard and practice courageously so as to become the pillars of society. Studying the essence of General Secretary Xi’s speeches is the prerequisite and basis to keep us highly consistent with the Central Committee in ideology, politics, and actions. It is also the internal requirements in promoting theoretical innovations, theoretical armaments, and the theoretical qualities of the whole Party.
Professor Lu’s thematic counseling report was focused on the firm pursuit of belief, scientific ways of thinking, strong undertaking of responsibility, sincere love of people, pragmatic style of work, etc. Integrated with the ideology and work of the teachers and students in colleges, her report was much instructive to the young Party members in their ideology, belief, and cultivation of Party spirit. The young Party members deepened their comprehensions of the essence of General Secretary Xi’s speeches by clarifying such major issues as the construction of the Party and the intensification of reform. Professor Lu’s report must be helpful for the young Party members to further stabilize their belief, achieve their consensus of views, and strengthen their theoretical armament. It will inspire the young Party members to strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by devoting themselves to the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics
