On Apr. 25, 2016, led by Carolyn Brady, director of International Cooperation Affairs of University of Wisconsin-River Falls, an educational delegation made of 13 delegates from 12 branch schools in University of Wisconsin system, visited HUST at the invitation, accompanied by Ms Zhang Chunbo, one of educational consultants of U.S. consulate-general in Shenyang, as well as Liu Hongmei (director), Wu Haoyang (deputy director), and Yin Li (civil servant) from America & Oceania Branch of Heilongjiang Provincial Foreign Affairs Office.
The delegation and honorable guests were welcomed warmly by HUST’s President Li Dayong. In the afternoon, an earnest talk was held in the second conference room of Main Teaching Building, West Campus, under the host of Vice President Fang Wenbin.
On behalf of the delegation, Carolyn Brady expressed her gratitude to HUST’s warm reception, and proposed the prospects for HUST and University of Wisconsin to cooperate in education and scientific research. She also delivered a formal invitation to HUST, looking forward to meeting HUST delegation in University of Wisconsin someday.
After hearing the introductions made by 11 delegates (including Carolyn Brady) on the information of their own branch schools one by one, President Li shared the basic information of HUST with them, and spoke highly of the excellence of University of Wisconsin and the famous “Wisconsin Idea”. He hoped that the two universities could have more chance to communicate and cooperate in future so as to contribute more in promoting the friendship between Wisconsin and Heilongjiang.

Also present at the meeting were HUST’s Director Xi Zhaohui from International Cooperation & Exchange Department, Director Zhang Fengbin from Department of Personnel, Deputy Director Song Qingkun from Department of Teaching Affairs, Deputy Director Zhang Hui from Department of Science and Technology and Deputy Director Shao Yang from International Cooperation & Exchange Department, etc.
Then, at 7:00 p.m., in the lecture hall on the fifth floor of Main Teaching Building, West Campus, the introduction and marketing event for University of Wisconsin to Harbin was held, which attracted some 300 undergraduates and high school students studying in Harbin as well as some of their parents, to whom Vice President Fang made a speech on behalf of HUST while the delegates from University of Wisconsin introduced the basic information of those 12 branch schools as well as the corresponding programs for Chinese students to study there. After that, face-to-face communications were made between the delegates and some students presented, and dozens of intentional applications for studying abroad were signed.
