The fourth “TRIZ” Cup National Undergraduate Innovative Methods Contest was held successfully in Harbin Engineering University on April 16-17, 2016. The contest was co-sponsored by National Innovation Method Society, Department of Science and Technology of Heilongjiang Province, Education Department of Heilongjiang Province, Heilongjiang Association for Science and Technology, and Heilongjiang Intellectual Property Office, and was co-organized by Heilongjiang Research Society of Technological Innovation Methods, Heilongjiang Productivity Promotion Center, Heilongjiang Provincial Institute of Scientific and Technical Information and Harbin Engineering University.
In response to the call of promoting the nation’s innovative technical methods, the contest took as the theme “gathering intellect and innovation, and motivating entrepreneurship”, aiming at encouraging college students to develop their innovative thinking, help their innovation team to transfer the products accordingly, and facilitate industrialized promotion of innovative programs. There were 840 student teams from 58 universities, covering 16 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions participating in this activity, including Harbin Institute of Technology, Dalian University of Technology, Northeastern University, Harbin Engineering University, Yanshan University, Hebei University of Technology, Anhui University of Technology, Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, Ninxia University, Tianjin Polytechnic University, Hainan University and so on. After the preliminary examination by experts, 343 projects reached the final.
Supported by the Graduate Division, and organized by the School of Mechanical Engineering, and Research Society of Technological Innovation Methods, HUST graduate students actively signed up and prepared well for the competition, and got excellent results. Of all the 42 projects on our campus, 22 projects reached the final. After a series of competitions, like project display, PPT presentation, group oral examination, our school team won two second prizes for innovation and manufacturing items, four second prizes for innovative design items, one second prize for technological improvement items, two third prizes for innovation and manufacturing items, four third prizes for innovative design items, one third prize for technological improvement items, one third prize for entrepreneurship items. Our university was honored “Excellent Organizational Unit”. Jiang Jingang and Du Haiyan, Associate Professors of the School of Mechanical Engineering, were honored “Excellent Advisors”. Professor Zhang Yongde was invited to be the judge in the finals for the contest.
The contest promotes the application of TRIZ, an advanced innovative method, broadens students’ innovative ideas, strengths the cooperative and innovative awareness, stimulates students’ passion for innovation and entrepreneurship, and enriches our activities in technical competitions.
