At the invitation of HUST, Xiao Kaiting, Senior Director of Tin Ka Ping Foundation, Fan Zhiguo, Deputy Director of the International Center of Heilongjiang Education Department and Li Chunying paid a visit to HUST on April 6, 2016.
On the morning of April 6, President Li Dayong and Vice President Fang Wenbin met with the delegation at No. 2 Conference Room of the Main Teaching Building. Firstly, President Li Dayong extended a warm welcome to the delegation of Tin Ka Ping Foundation to visit HUST, jointly reviewing with the guests his visit to Mr. Tin Ka Ping in Hong Kong in 2006 and the completion and the opening ceremony of Tin Ka Ping School of Mechanical and Power Engineering of HUST in 2009. President Li Dayong said in 2008 Mr. Tin Ka Ping donated 3 million Yuan RMB generously and the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering of HUST was named after the donor. Later Xiao Kaiting, Senior Director of Tin Ka Ping Foundation gave an introduction about the situation of the Tin Ka Ping Foundation, saying that since 2010, the Foundation had experienced the transformation of the management mode and funding direction, from funding infrastructure to education development. The Foundation expected to build bridges for the donated schools to promote the educational and academic exchanges between Hong Kong and the mainland. In 2017, Hong Kong Tin Ka Ping Foundation will usher in the 35th Anniversary Celebration and on behalf of the Foundation, Mr. Xiao sincerely invited the leaders of HUST to attend the celebration activities. President Li Dayong expressed that the transformation of operation mode and funding patterns of the foundation would benefit more teachers and students; HUST would make an active use of the platform set up by the foundation to support young teachers and students to study in Hong Kong and deepen the cooperation with the colleges and universities in Hong Kong.
