In order to speed up the process of information construction in our university, promote the construction of smart campus, and improve the working, studying and living conditions of both teachers and students, Harbin University of Science and Technology officially started the campus wireless network construction on June 18 after the study, investigation, demonstration and bidding stages.
In 2014, modern education technical center had a great deal of research on campus wireless network construction proposal and construction modes, at the same time, they communicated deeply with several network business, such as Huawei, H3C, etc. They established several construction modes.
On May 11, 2015, HUST established the construction and operation mode of the university-enterprise cooperation. In December, 2015, endeavored by modern education technical center and section of state-owned assets management, discussion draft was formed. On January 14, 2016, the draft was modified a little by modern education technical center and section of state-owned assets management.
On January 29, 2016, the final draft of the tender documents was confirmed after discussion. In April, 2016, wireless network construction entered the phase of signing cooperation agreement. On May 31, the signing cooperation agreement was finished.
On June 18, wireless network construction officially started. Many departments in our university, such as university office, security department, logistics management office, state-owned assets management office, dean’s offices, graduate faculty, library, and school hospital, gave strong support and active assistance.
According to the agreement, wireless network may enter the trial-run phase in the late August. After the construction, the wireless signals will cover classrooms, laboratories, offices, conference rooms, library, dining hall, and some of the students’ apartments.
The construction of the wireless network may provide strong network support for the smart campus, mobile Internet, Internet plus education, intelligence sense, etc. It may greatly promote our teaching and scientific research.
