HUST’s First Humboldt Research Fellow Returns

After two year’s study in Germany, Professor Hu Jun, HUST’s first Humboldt research fellow, returned to HUST.

As one of the most excellent young teachers in HUST’s School of Applied Science as well as the Ph.D student of HIT’s Professor Gao Huijun and Brunel University’ Professor Wang Zidong (a famous international scholar and IEEE research fellow in Controlling), Professor Hu won the sponsorship of AvH from DAAD and went to Germany to pursuit his science study with Professor Steven Liu, another celebrity in world’s controlling field in March, 2014.

The scope of Professor Hu’s study in Germany covered state estimation, fault tolerant control and fault estimation of complex dynamic system under network environment, and quite a few research achievements was made with his ceaseless endeavor. In June, 2014, only some three months later, he was invited to attend Humboldt annual meeting held in GFR Presidential Palace, and was granted an interview by President Joachim Gauck there. In August, 2015, he went to Britain and engaged in his further research for a half year in Brunel University, with the sponsorship of AvH’s European reside program.

Now Professor Hu are hosting a number of scientific projects supported by NSFC, Fok Ying-tung Foundation, China’s Post-doctorial Science Fund, provincial science fund for youth scholars in Heilongjiang, and HUST’s outstanding innovation talents cultivating program, etc. He is also the commentator of Mathematical Reviews, the secretary general of stochastic control group for CTS, CAA, a program committee member for an international conference and the guest editor or editorial broad member for 11 international journals.

During the last two years, Professor Hu published an English monograph in Springer Publishing House, over 10 papers in Automatica, Information Fusion and some other international journals (all with HUST coming ahead in his address) and accredited two patents for invitation. Up to now, 6 of his papers were selected as highly cited papers by ESI database for being cited for more than 500 times (one of them was cited by SCI papers for100 times) and 880 times by Google Scholar.

There are altogether seven teachers from HUST’s School of Applied Science being abroad as visiting scholars now, who have enhanced HUST’s popularity by their hard work and good relations they established in academic cooperation with the experts and scholars there. Besides, after their re-entry, they are expected to make even greater contribution to HUST.
