Since 1982, approved by Ministry of Education, Harbin University of Science and Technology has enrolled undergraduates who major in Industrial Management Engineering.ManagementSchoolof HUST has already formed a multi-layer talent fostering system with doctor program, postgraduate course, specialized postgraduate course and undergraduate course. There are 2 Doctoral Degree Granting Disciplines: Management Science and Engineering (the first class Doctoral Degree Granting Discipline), Technology Economy and Management (the second class Doctoral Degree Granting Discipline) and 6 Master’s Degree Granting Disciplines. Included are 2 first class Master’s Degree Granting Disciplines—Management Science and Engineering and Business Administration, 4 second class Master’s Degree Granting Disciplines—Technology Economy and Management, Enterprise Management, System Engineering and Tourism Management. There are 6 Master’s Degree Granting Disciplines which are classified into 3 categories: firstly, a MBA Specialized Master’s Degree Granting Discipline; secondly, 2 college teachers’ Master’s Degree Granting Disciplines---Management Science and Engineering, and Technology Economy and Management; thirdly, 3 Engineering Master’s Degree Granting Disciplines—Project Management, Industrial Engineering and Logistics Engineering. And Management Science and Engineering is provincial-level key discipline. So far,ManagementSchooloffers undergraduate five directions which are Information Management and Information System, Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resource Management and Tourism Management, while Information Management and Information System and Business Administration are provincial-level key specialties and Information Management and Information System is a national-level characteristic specialty.
The School has a key research base on the study of Human Social Science of Heilongjiang colleges’---Hi-tech Development and Management Research Centre of HUST, a school-level key laboratory---Management Information System laboratory, and 5 undergraduate specialty laboratories---Business Administration laboratory, Information System and E-commerce laboratory, Tourism Management laboratory, Human Resource Management laboratory and Marketing laboratory. To date, the total value of experimental facility for education is almost 10 millionyuan.ManagementSchoolhas 300 computers for students’ browsing e-book and professional document, and reference room has a good assortment of economic, administrative and reference book.
The School pays attention to the teaching faculty and the planning, construction and administration of the creative team, and has formed reasonable and proficient teaching staff who possess 100 teachers, among whom 31 professors, 38 associate professors, a specially-appointed professor of Long River scholar, 2 provincial-level excellent middle-aged experts, 3 entitled to government subsidies of the State Council, 4 provincial-level academic leaders, 11 school-level academic leaders and 8 doctoral supervisors are included. Almost 50% of the teachers have doctorate degree.
The School creates conditions for supporting teachers to participate in the national and provincial level projects and publishing high-level academic theses. From 2006 to 2008,there are more than 130 scientific research achievements, among which National Natural Science Funding Projects, National Social Science Funding Projects, National Soft Science Plan Projects, National Basic Specific Plan Projects and etc. are included, with over 30 national-level projects and 40 provincial-level technical plan projects; there are 11 prizes on Provincial Level Awards in Sci. & Tech., among which one Provincial Governor Special Prize, three first class and six second class are included; there are more than 100 management consulting reports for the related ministries of national and local government and large and medium-sized enterprises, with a value of over 10 million yuan research fund; there are more than 500 academic research papers, with over 100 papers applied by SCI, EI and ISTP and 30 monographs published.ManagementSchoolcommunicates with the institution for efficient and scientific research ofAmerica,Britain,Sweden,Australia,Finland,Canadaand etc., and carries out cooperative research for many years, which brings about a striking effect.

Introduction to Information Management and Information System
Information Management and Information System of HUST constitutes a provincial key discipline, which cultivates senior talents who have acquired the system thought, information system analysis and design method, with the foundation of the theory of modern management, the application ability and the knowledge of the technology of computer science and Information Management, and are committed themselves to the information system analysis, design, implementation, management and evaluation and other aspects of the work for the national administrative ministries at all levels, enterprises, financial institutions, institutes of scientific research and etc. Through the professional study , students can gain the basic theory and professional knowledge on economy, management, data analysis method, information resource management, computer and information management and information system, master the analysis method of management information system, design method and implementation technology, and acquire the basic ability of information organization, analysis and research, dissemination and exploitation, foreign language and computer, with the basic ability of the integrated application of the knowledge to analyze and solve problems, and the ability to implement the scientific research and practical work.
