HarbinUniversity of Science and Technology (HUST)LawSchoolof was established in 2004. Its precursor was Law Major inSchoolofHumanitiesof HUST, which was founded in the year of 2000. In 2002, Law Department was established.LawSchoolwas officially inaugurated on July 4, 2004 when HUST was evaluated as excellence by Ministry of Education concerning the level of undergraduate education and teaching quality assessment. Now,LawSchoolhas a staff of 28, among whom professors and associate professors cover 35%, andmore than 85% of the staff have doctorate or master degree. ThusLawSchoolhas a high level of teaching and research capacity. Currently there are more than 500 undergraduate students inLawSchool. Moreover,LawSchoolhas several teaching and research sections investigating respectively civil and commercial law, litigation law and basic laws. What’s more,LawSchoolpossesses a moot court, a network laboratory, and nearly ten thousand books related to Law Major. Meanwhile,LawSchoolhas established practice bases with various organizations including People’s Court, People’s Procuratorate, law firms and government legal departments. Being young and vibrant,LawSchoolhas been progressing continuously with the rigorous and pragmatic style and the idea of carrying forward the cultural traditions, defending the legal justice. In the aspect of teaching ideas, the basic education goal is to cultivate the high-quality legal talent with technology features. Basing on the subject characteristics of HUST, the targeted teaching style is adopted inLawSchool. Besides, in the aspect of student cultivation,LawSchoolmanages to be people-oriented, apply individualized teaching methods in order to create a rigorous yet relaxed environment for students. All the staff inLawSchoolwill aim at cultivating compound legal talents with technology features, who could carry forward the cultural traditions and meet the needs of society, as well as building the harmonious society. Introduction to Law Major Law Major aims to cultivate the application-oriented graduates satisfying the needs of our society. The graduates should develop morally, intellectually and physically, and master necessary legal knowledge concerning criminal law, civil law, administrative law, commercial law, litigation and so forth. Moreover, they are familiar with the major laws and regulations in our country. With this knowledge, the graduates could analyze and solve problems independently. Meanwhile, Law Major also concentrates on students’ ability concerning various aspects of knowledge, such as foreign languages, computer skills and so forth. Principal courses: Legal Theory Studies, Chinese Legal History, Constitution Studies, Criminal Law Studies, Civil Law Studies, Criminal Procedure Law Studies, Civil Procedure Law Studies, Administrative Law Studies, Administrative Procedure Law Studies, Economic Law Studies, Commercial Law Studies, Intellectual Property Law Studies, International Law Studies, International Private Law Studies, International Economic Law Studies and a wide range of other courses.
