School of International Culture and Education

One of the important strategic objectives of the development of higher institutions is internationalization. In order to achieve this goal, School of International Culture and Education was established in April, 2003. The school undertakes the cooperative school running work between HUST and international educational institutions as well as the enrollment, management and Chinese language training to overseas students.

The School with proficient teaching staff possesses teachers from both home and abroad, including 28 Chinese teachers, 17 of whom are professors, and 17 foreign teachers.

There are 3 specialties in the School, which are Business Administration, Animation and Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.

The School has set up 2 modern language labs, 2 business administration labs, 3 studios, 3 two-dimensional labs, 6 three-dimensional labs and 1 high-end animation lab.

Since its establishment, the School has graduated altogether more than 2000 students of International cooperative educational program. At present, the key foreign cooperator in school-running is University of Cape Reynold in Canada, cooperatively training talents in Business Administration and Animation. University of Cape Reynold is a well-known public higher educational institution in Canada. And degrees and diplomas awarded there are widely recognized by Education Ministry of China, the Canadian Government, each professional institution and institution of higher education. College graduates of Business Administration and Animation are particularly regarded with great favor in the industry.

In order to meet with the needs of the internationalization of higher education and market, the School is dedicated to training students of Business Administration, Animation and Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language endowed with not only professional knowledge but also strong practical ability, and is striving to make a first-class specialty subject in China. At present, the School has set up relatively stable practice bases both home and abroad for Business Administration, Animation and Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, among which the practice base for Animation is Heilongjiang Research and Development Center and Talent Training Center of Animation Base. School of International Culture and Education will constantly explore in this field, actively developing a cooperative partnership of long-term stability, setting up international cooperative bases, constructing the education cooperation framework of global resources-sharing and mutual-complementary, and putting a lot of efforts into developing overseas-student education by enlarging the enrolment of overseas-students, improving the education and management quality to make a multi-level, multi-formed and multi-national school-running pattern for overseas students to take shape. The School strives to push forward international cooperation and exchange activities worldwide through international cooperation, and make an effort to promote the internationalization process of school running as well as build a well-known high-level teaching and research university in China.

Introduction to Business Administration

With the admission of Academic Degree Commission of the State Council, the School of International Culture and Education has started to enroll undergraduates in Business Administration as early as 2004. The graduates are trained to adapt to international business environment, have a higher application ability of foreign languages, have a good command of knowledge in administration, be able to adapt to the change in work environment and social environment, know both international rules and transnational culture, have global strategy as well as an overall and solid foundation in administrative theory, possess international vision and high practical work ability of getting involved in international competition, qualify the export-oriented business administrative talents in accordance with international standards. The principle of business administration adopts the talent training scheme of graded teaching, dynamic management, and stage training.

Introduction to Animation

Graduates are trained to adapt to the need of social and economic development of 21stcentury, possess good literary and artistic quality and wide knowledge background, have a good command of basic theories and knowledge on animation design, production and development, possess practical work ability and innovative thoughts, become fluent in a foreign language, be familiar with the basic theories and methods involved in the creation of Film-Video animation, apply computer and multi-media technology in a flexible way to video design and multi-media document making. Students are expected to become senior versatile, practical and specialized professionals. The principle of Animation adopts the talent training scheme of graded teaching, dynamic management and stage training.

Introduction to Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language

I. Training objective

Students are trained to make all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and art, have a good command of the fundamental theory of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, receive the fundamental training in Chinese literature, comparative literature, English language and literature, Chinese and western comparative culture, natural science and artistic accomplishment, become well versed in basic linguistic theory and a second language teaching theory, have the ability to teach Chinese as a second language independently, and become practical and pioneering high-quality talents engaged in teaching Chinese as a foreign language as well as global cultural exchange in related sectors home and abroad, various types of educational institutions, the press and publishing, cultural management, and enterprise and public institutions.

2.1 Master basic principle of Marxism, have a firm belief in the socialist political principles, socialist moral qualities and professional norms.

2.3 Master the basic theories and methods in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, get involved in classroom teaching, master the basic knowledge and theories in Chinese language and literature, know about the frontier academic achievements and development prospects in the specialized field, possess certain basic knowledge and artistic accomplishments in social science, the humanities and natural science.

2.4 Be able to read classical literature, be good at writing, logical thinking, and literary comprehension.

2.5 Attain high level of proficiency in English, have a comprehensive ability in English listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating, and be good at English-Chinese translation, translation from Chinese into English in particular.
